Tropical fruits on the nose, like pineapple and papaya. Grassy, herbal, some oak spice and caramel. Palate shows the pineapple and grassy qualities of the nose, while adding in quite a bit more sweetness with toasted coconut, creme brulee, and butterscotch, but spices start sneaking in before the sweetness takes over. Annise, cinnamon, and white pepper show its head in the higher rye mash. Smooth but not too rich and finish is somewhat abrupt but still pleasant as it lingers.40.0 USD per Bottle

Kentucky Owl 11 Year Rye (Batch #1)
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 22, 2020 (edited January 24, 2021)Potent nose of cherry cola, cinnamon, annise, birch, plenty of toasted oak notes, citrus peel, brown sugar, toasted marshmallow, to name a few. The complexity of the nose is intoxicating, i almost didn't want to taste it out of fear the palate would be a let down... The palate is no let down. Cherries, sweet oak, toasted marshmallow, smoke and charcoal, some of those classic cola roots, spices, and extracts, mouth-coating but not cloying and a finish that lingers for minutes. Gotta put this one up there as a top 5 rye because of the depth and expressiveness of the blend. I hear the later batches were not as good, glad I got to snag this one when I did. If you can find it and its not exorbitantly expensive, I would highly recommend this150.0 USD per Bottle -
Booker's Bourbon Batch 2019-03 "Country Ham"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 17, 2019 (edited February 22, 2020)First ever Booker's! Couldn't wait to try this. Nose is sweet with brown sugar, toffee, molasses, and vanilla, with some raspberry and peach showing a fruity side. Little coal smoke and shoe leather as well. Flavor is minty and peppery with vanilla and charred oak. Body is smooth, bit perhaps a little lacking for barrel proof. Leaves a nice prickly numbness on the tongue I will definitely be seeking out Booker's whenever I can from now on -
Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 16, 2019 (edited August 7, 2020)Nose is toffee, pecans, maple syrup, white pepper, cinnamon, and hints of dill. Sweet and smoky on the palate with more toffee and chocolate. Great lingering cinnamon and spice. Man this has a beautiful, full mouthfeel and great viscosity with a finish that last a few minutes. Great bourbon -
Vanilla, dill, caramel, white pepper, anise/black licorice on the nose. Not much fruit, but still nicely complex. Doughy malty rye bread. Caramel coating the mouth is quite nice. Long finish is pleasant and lingering, nicely balancing sweet and spice. Body is medium at best. Would love to taste the longer aged, uncut version someday. Great rye for the price.36.0 USD per Bottle

Blanton's Original Single Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 15, 2019 (edited October 19, 2019)Beautiful golden color. Nose of caramel, toffee, milk chocolate, marshmallow, oak; some smoke, tobacco, and brine add complexity to the strong sweet nose. Palate has strong oak, caramel, and vanilla, with orange and cherry that follows. Finishes with pear, brine, some tobacco and leather and a very smooth texture. Wonderfully complex, great smoothness, burns just the right amount, and goes on for days. Lives up to the hype in my eyes60.0 USD per Bottle -
Russell's Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 4, 2019 (edited March 2, 2020)Sweet nose of white chocolate, corn, coconut, caramel, charred oak, and banana that finishes with rye spice and cinnamon. Palate is more spice forward with nice lingering carmel, coconut, and white chocolate with nice viscosity and roundness in the mouth and good warmth, without too much burn for 55%. Honestly this is one of my favorites. I can find it most of the time and the price point isn't too bad for a single barrel.
