Kilchoman Machir Bay (2012 Edition)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed April 12, 2016 (edited April 24, 2018)Sweet and fruity with an aftertaste of vanilla and oak -
If you like Japanese whisky give this young distillery a try, well balances and intriguing it is worth the purchase for those seeking variety. Fruity and smooth, it opens with its sherry casting, a swish in the mouth brings forth apple, pear, and a hint of cask oils. A delicate finish does not overwhelm the senses but leaves a paleasent after taste.

Dalwhinnie 15 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed February 15, 2016 (edited June 9, 2016)The nose is a bit deceiving on this whisky. Its aroma oozes of sweet honey and warm vanilla, with a hint a salted caramel. However, the second it hits the tongue a tingling peppery burn of alcohol is present. After the initial burn passes it mellows into a white pepper mixed with traces of honey, and finally hints of it's bourbon and sherry barrel aging shine through. The finish is quite long and it is where I notice most the saltiness you would expect from a highland scotch. My 3 star rating is simply based on my preference of a smokey whisky. -
Best value bottle, and if I were to sum it up into one parase it would be "crowd pleaser". This is because it has a very nice balanced taste and is a pleasure to SIP from start to finish. It starts for the fans of spice, but a dash of water brings out sweet florals and citrus. Directly after the initial flavor burst, the flavor mellows into a smooth leather. At first taste smoky whisky lovers may be disapointed, however the aftertaste is distinctly smoky with a hint of brine and lingers in the mouth until the next sip.
