On the nose I get punched in the left nostril with vanilla and a hook to the right with caramel. It smells one note after that sweet. The taste is the complete opposite, it floods in with earthly oak that changes to a mild spice. After the mild spice comes the corn in the finish. The hug, I mean finish, is welcoming and doesn't overstay it's welcome. Overall, great taste with some nice complexity. The flavor profile isn't as sweet as I like but it is a good whiskey.

Evan Williams White Label Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 22, 2023 (edited October 23, 2023)Nose is what I am looling for normally, the caramel sweetness. The taste comes strong with corn and then pepper and spices. A bit of oak rounds it out. The finish is moderate but a bit longer than I would prefer. Overall, for the price it is really good. I would mix this any day of the week. -
Henry McKenna 10 Year Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 21, 2023 (edited October 22, 2023)Note: this is the neck pour. On first sniff a single note drives the nose for me, orange. Smelling a bit more brings some spice with it. The orange follows through with a fruity floral note on the end. A few more sips in I find the oak and caramel before the finish sets in. The hug is nice and not Every sip after I find the orange flavor fading and the spice kicking in. Overall, I really enjoyed this. It is a bit spicy for my sweet tooth overall but not overwhelming. I can see myself coming back to this bottle to experiment with how I could drink it on a regular.59.99 USD per Bottle -
Jack Daniel's Triple Mash
Blended American Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed October 18, 2023 (edited October 20, 2023)Off the nose I get some honey and another sweetness, almost maple like. The taste has some oak present and then kicks in with some of the spices including a decent cinnamin taste. It has the caramel that I look for in there as well but it is buried behind the oak and baking spices. The finish is on the shorter side, but still has a kick to it. Overall, the nose I find more appealing than the actual taste. It is a decent whiskey for the price and will definitely want to try it on a rock to see if sipping will open up that sweetness more.39.99 USD per Bottle -
Neck pour off the bottle. Nose has a peaty smoke to it. Under that is a bit of the rye spice. Taste backs up the nose, a nice smokey start into the peat. Underneath all of that there is a nice sweet note that comes through. Finish is smooth and continues the nice smokey peat. Not my jam, but will definitely make someones butter.

Willett Family Estate Small Batch Rye 4 Year
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 13, 2023 (edited October 14, 2023)Nose: Earthy, almost a moss coming through. Behind all that is hints of toffe or caramalized butter. Taste: In the beginning there was earthly woodiness, then a wonderful flower that blooms into the finish. Finish: Very present, on the longer side, and a great toasty aftertaste. Overall, I believe it is not what I want in a whiskey but it is good at what it is. It may be that I am not a rye fan currently. -
Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 11, 2023 (edited March 9, 2024)Another one of my older bottles in my selection, and one of my favorites. Nose is very flowery and almost perfume like. Taste is a very nice oak toast. Then it comes with a fruitiness that then morphs into a smooth toffee. The finish is present but on the shorter side, urging you take another sip. -
One of my older bottles in my selection. Nose on this is almost non-existant to me. Part of me feels like a broken record saying I smell the caramel. It is almost like my palate drives to the caramel, I do definitely have a sweet tooth. I smelt the glencairn for nearly 10 minutes but couldn't find anything else. The taste is slightly toasted with the caramel coming in. It is very light. The finish is on the shorter side, given the proof it makes sense.

2nd pour off this bottle. Nose is fruity with some toast coming through. Very forward with toast on the first sip, after that the toast is more muted giving way to the fruitiness from the nose. After drinking a bit the baseline bourbon carmel comes back into the picture. Likely it might open up a bit with some water and/or cube. By the time the glencairn is finished I can hardly find the toasted notes. The finish is short medium length backed with the stone fruitiness.62.99 USD per Bottle
