Tastes

Have drank a bit of this trying to figure out if I liked it or not, this pour is about 2/3rds the way through the bottle. Don't get much off the nose, seems mild. Get the standard corn bourbon smell. The taste starts with that normal sweet corn then immediately turns to black pepper. It doesnt overwhelm you, but is the singular note after it turns. The finish is present for a bit of time but doesn't over stay it's welcome. It has that carmel aftertaste which is welcoming.

2nd pour off this bottle. VA ABC Store pick, this is at 105 proof but couldn't find it here and this one seemed apporiate. Off the nose I get a bit of bubblegum then the sweet corn. A nice toasted taste off the inital hit, then hits with corn. Sorta one note, not too much complexity. The burn is consistent but not too long.

This is my second pour of this bottle, on the nose I get a bit of baking spice, maybe cardamom. The taste has a strong carmel notes then a subtle spice and toasted note on the backend. The finish is a decent length, not short. As the finish tappers of there is almost astringent taste which is unpleasant.

1st pour or the neck... Nose: Very alcohol forward, hard to get past, hints of smoke. The taste is almost entirely carmel. Hints of baking spices on the end. Not too much dimension, but great tasting if you want the carmel. Finish is short.

Sweet, nice finish. Light oakiness, corn forward.

Sweet heat. Has a strong caramel on first taste, diving into herbal notes after.

The nose has a strong banana smell. That banana moves in on the taste that then gives way to a spicy finish. On second taste, it mellows out on the banana expressing more sweet fruit. Shorter finish than expecred from a BiB.

Strong nutty smell, that is backed up with a strong nutty taste. Towards the start of the finish some nice herbal notes come to town.

Not much to this whiskey overall. It is kinda blah. Hints of carmel. Maybe this is what you get at 80 proof? It seems like a whiskey for a non-whiskey drinker.

Very smooth drinker for the proof. Has a nice oak on the front
