Aroma - quite nice. Brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves, honey, mint. Taste- this one packs a ton of heat and the first sip puts hair on your chest. Massive oak, rye and vanilla right up front. Second sip and moving forward nuances of citrus, winter green. The viscosity is awesome… almost sticky. Long finish. Overall - this one is not for the weak… massively bold, not overly complex. Great rye offering… excellent at its price point. Bolder than Rare Breed Rye but not quite as much spice as Willet 4 Year

Reviewed December 20, 2021 (edited January 1, 2022)Aroma - notes of honey, pepper, vanilla… pretty nice at this price point Taste - dark fruits, caramel, vanilla… very slight hint of spice in the finish… wish the viscosity was a bit higher. Above average for the price point -
William Larue Weller Bourbon (Fall 2020)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 9, 2021 (edited January 1, 2022)Aroma is fantastic - alcohol soaked dark fruits, massive oak, banana bread, vanilla, cherries, chewy caramel candies…. just awesome. Taste - as expected…. Booze for days… First sip ignites the lips. There is an oak presence but quickly gives way to the alcohol. Some faint caramel but not much else happening here. 4.35 -

A little more cinnamon here, leather is faint. Each sip brings forward a new aspect. Complexity is incredible. Happy thanksgiving! -
Woodford Reserve Straight Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 18, 2021 (edited August 22, 2022)Aroma - massive banana bread… sweet caramel, rye, hint of bubble gum… for $30-$35 this is quite nice. More than what I expected. Taste - More of the same aroma notes are found here on the palate. It’s a bit light though which is it’s downfall. Drinks right around its $30 price range so can’t complain. Overall the aroma > palate. Should make for an excellent OF or Manhattan -
Weller Special Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 17, 2021 (edited January 1, 2022)Aroma - honey, caramel, sugar candy, hint of smoke, massive leather. Taste - sweet, toffee, hint of pepper as it opens up. Complexity is lacking, but balance is nice. -
Aroma - mint, brown sugar, cinnamon, citrus… not a world beater but it’s solid and well balanced Taste - everything seems to be dialed back. The rye spice is really nice on the finish and lingers a little bit longer than most ryes at this price range. Overall - it’s pretty darn good for the price. Wish there was a bit more uniqueness in the flavor profile. Very nice entry level rye

Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2021
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 21, 2021 (edited October 22, 2021)Aroma - black pepper, baking spices, massive oak, citrus, slight hint of honey and vanilla. The aroma is outstanding. Taste - not as bold as the nose would indicate. Much more salted caramel and vanilla. More cinnamon pops here. Oak is outstanding. But I’m a little shocked by how much alcohol pushes through. Overall this a terrific bourbon but I’m honestly a little underwhelmed by it. The alcohol presence eliminates some of the finer nuances of this bourbon. It drinks closer to upper 50s/low 60s. There is definitely a noticeable “hotness” even a slight burn on this one.
