Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series 2019 RC6
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 19, 2021 (edited August 29, 2022)Aroma - baking spices, brown sugar, subtle oak and vanilla Taste - quite hot. Needed a few drops of water to help open this up. After this, I get same aroma aspects… baking spices, brown sugar. Subtle oak and vanilla. Surprised at the lack of depth on this limited release. Not much of a finish. Flavors are there… then they disappear. -
Elijah Craig Small Batch Single Barrel Select
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 14, 2021 (edited June 22, 2023)WWC & CWH 9/40/2020 Rickhouse T Floor 5 94 proof Aroma/ Banana bread, wet oak, bit more musty that Small batch, hint of caramel. Taste- Quite a bit of heat/bite on this one. More barrel than small batch which is awesome. Vanilla follows the intense barrel notes bringing a nice balance. Complexity is minimal, flavor is solid though. -
Old Elk Single Barrel Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Colorado , USA
Reviewed September 14, 2021 (edited October 10, 2021)Binnys Store Pick 110.9 proof Aged 5 years Aroma- Winter green, caramel, cinnamon Taste- toasted nuts, vanilla, oak. Well balanced nothing overwhelms Flavor is unique but the price of admission isn’t justifiable, even as a store pick. -
Aroma- cloves, rye, buttered toast, chocolate and cinnamon. Very intriguing. Pretty awesome Taste- man the heat on this one is quite noticeable. But I’m surprised at just how much flavor pops through the alcohol. Very complex. Banana bread, brown sugar, oak vanilla. Darker fruits come through here and that cinnamon from the aroma brings it all together.

Knob Creek 12 Year Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 13, 2021 (edited November 29, 2021)Aroma - wish this was a candle. It’s really that awesome. Huge oak and vanilla. Orange peel and obvious barrel. All of which intermingle in a fantastic way Taste- following the nose, but unfortunately at a lighter note (just being ultra critical here… aroma was so insanely bold I was expecting the same in the taste) But let’s be real, this is an amazing bourbon. Definitely worth the purchase and I think that this is underrated by the community right now -
Rock Hill Farms Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 13, 2021 (edited October 1, 2021)Loved the complexity and balance. Dark fruits, oak, some hints of chocolate and rye spice. The caramel and vanilla presence is there but are both secondary. Awesome. -
Aroma- massive amount of dark fruits and vanilla. Some orange peel, cinnamon, and toasted marshmallow and oak. Pretty awesome Taste - dessert-like and it’s fantastic. Again I get that toasted marshmallow, vanilla and oak. Caramel, dark fruits pop up here again and there’s a buttery feel to it too with hints of banana bread I think OF 1910 is just a bit more complex than this. But this is a great after meal bourbon. Also would be highly recommend to new bourbon drinkers as the sweetness may take them by surprise. I also made an Old Fashion with this before and it was unreal.

Calumet Farm 15 Year Single Rack Black Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 4, 2021 (edited January 1, 2022)Aroma - massive cherries and vanilla. Some butterscotch. Nose is all dessert like. No burn, very sweet. Taste - follows the nose with cherrie and vanilla. Cinnamon, licorice, oak, dark fruit, spice. Solid bourbon. But probably not worth the price of admission as bottles in the $70 -$80 range are just as good. 4.15 -
Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 4, 2021 (edited October 12, 2021)Aroma - cinnamon, pepper, cloves , ginger bread.. There another spice in there… almost potpourri-like. Very well balanced Taste- massive amount of rye… but it’s balanced really well with cinnamon, bread like notes, sweet caramel and licorice. There is a barnyard funkiness (think hay) that adds another layer of complexity. Overall this is an outstanding rye. 4.3 range
