Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 29, 2022 (edited July 9, 2022)Aroma - cotton candy, orange creamsicle, cinnamon candle, oak, vanilla. Pretty awesome. Super complex. Taste - butterscotch and apples. Hint of pepper and nice oaky finish. Must try. Overall- I made my notes prior to seeing the “expert review” had to laugh out loud bc for once I thought the expert review on the taste was spot on. Personally, I find this one to be outstanding at the price point. Cannot go wrong here and definitely worthy of a bottle purchase. -
Aroma- massive banana bread, honey, cloves. Extremely sweet Taste - nothing like the nose. Shockingly hot at 40%… but I guess that’s because there’s not much going on here. Faint toasted barrel and the banana profile comes up again. But this is simply underwhelming and very overpriced. I wouldn’t pay more that $28-$30 tops for this.

Michter's US*1 Toasted Barrel Finish Bourbon (2021 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 28, 2022Aroma- smells like tooth paste and vanilla. Almost no nose whatsoever. Taste- sweet marshmallow and cream soda… slight maple. … bit Smokey… smooth… little spice. Overall - Not sure what the hype is about. To be honest, this isn’t all what I expected. Quite underwhelming at its price point. At $80, this drinks closer to a $40 bourbon. -
Aroma- interesting complexity… chocolate, bit of rye spice, dark fruits. Big oak… slight sawdust aspect. Fall spices… Intriguing. Taste- . Get the obvious oak and vanilla. Quite a bit of those fall baking spices picked up here again (nutmeg, allspice, splash of cinnamon). Some light maple. This one is solid and price point seems to right on point. Maybe $5-$7 a bit too high. Recommend to try this at a bar first before purchasing. There are better options Kentucky Spirit, Rare Breed, Chattanooga BiB, 1920, etc that I would rather splurge on. Definitely worth a try, but temper expectations.

Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 18, 2022 (edited January 22, 2022)Aroma -oak dominates the nose, cherries / dark fruit, subtle baking spices. Not overly complex but very nicely balanced. Really digging the nose. Taste - first sip, buckle up buttercup! This come comes in screaming hot. All ethanol subtle oak and vanilla. 2nd sip now that the taste buds are hammered, getting a lot more oak and vanilla. Cherries and cinnamon on the backend and the cherries comes up again in the finish. That typical barnhouse funkiness is still there as seen with most OF offerings creating that unique flavor. Every few sips I pick up on a chocolate note and some smoke but it’s subtle. Adding a couple drops of water might help if offering to someone who normally doesn’t drink bourbon. Solid bourbon to keep on hand at all times. 1920 = dinner 1910= dessert -
Rough Rider Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — New York, USA
Reviewed January 8, 2022 (edited June 26, 2022)Aroma - not a whole lot on the nose… honey, cinnamon, slight rye, fruity pebbles. Decently balanced. Taste- definitely get that Chardonnay aspect upfront, definitely grapes followed up by peanuts, and cloves. Finishes with that brandy aspect. Overall - It’s interesting… got it on clearance at a grocery store… so for sub $20 it’s pretty damn good … but wouldn’t pay normal price for it… this is easily forgettable -
Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof Tennessee Whiskey
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed January 7, 2022 (edited January 8, 2022)126.9 Proof 63.45% Aroma - huge banana foster, cinnamon, cloves, very nice. Taste - Whoa. That’s a shock to the taste buds. First sip and I’m drunk. Booze is massive but in such an awesome way. It’s super hot, but full body with a long finish. Second sip brings forward tons of that bananas foster again. Vanilla and red hots come in mid palate and finish respectively. There’s a slight dark fruit presence as well. Overall. Definitely worth keeping on hand and definitely worth a try. It’s bold and in your face. -
Jack Daniel's Tennessee Tasters' Selection Barrel Proof Rye
Rye — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed January 7, 2022 (edited December 3, 2022)Aroma- big rye up front and it seems confrontational… big cinnamon, vanilla, fall spices very well rounded nose here. Looking forward to diving in here Taste - leather, rye, vanilla, spice, mint, heavy oak… all hit on the first sip. Second sip brings more heat and heavy oak… the rye spice hits on all cylinders sides of tongue and upper lips. Long finish. Damn this is a solid offering. No need to add ice to dial the hear back either… at 63% this is just so balanced it’s unnecessary Had it side by side with Rare Breed Rye, enjoyed this one just a touch more due to the finish
