Aroma - Bazooka Joe bubblegum, slight red-hot candies.. Oh my.. came back and I’m getting root beer float note.. wow that is crazy. Reminds me of much simpler times and it brought me back to a very fond memory of my Grandma. I honestly don’t want to review the nose anymore than this…. I’m so sorry.. it’s too nostalgic for me.. just want to leave it at that and reminince on some amazing childhood moments. Taste - A Very bready-rye. There are some darker notes coming through (berries and molasses).. Still getting a slight root beer note here. Very light hints of mint on the finish. Was hoping for more Overall - Yeah….. it’s good and above average at the price point. Viscosity and finish are extremely thin though which is to be expected at 95 proof… But Wish I didn’t have to go through Seelbach’s to acquire it. Probably wont pull the trigger again on unless I see it on the shelves at MSRP. (Just not worth MSRP+shipping costs along with the the low proof)

Still Austin The Musician Single Barrel Cask Strength Bourbon
Bourbon — Texas, USA
Reviewed March 21, 2024 (edited April 26, 2024)SLB Drinks 116 Proof 58%ABV Barrel #20191220-4 Barrel Dumped 11-29-2023 Aroma - wow.. that barrel, funky oak note is extremely unique and quite bold— like an attic, musty. Some bright red apples and pears come through and some vinous notes as well. As it opens, chocolate covered raisins mixed with leather. Slight red hot hint. Taste - Nice balance of herbal, floral and sugar candied notes. Caramel apples, honey towards the back of the palate. Smoke on the finish. Overall - This is definitely a unique whiskey. The youthfulness is evident though in my opinion and it doesn’t drink like a cask strength whiskey… The finish isn’t very long., the viscosity is minimal, and the proof really isn’t all that noticeable. Getting a lot of Chattanooga Tennessee Whiskey vibes here (which is also 2 years) Worth the purchase???? - Not unless you have extra cash lying around or are looking to try something unique. It is definitely a try-before-you-buy (if possible) Dont get me wrong… it is good… but for $70 on a 2 year aged whiskey is a bit ridiculous. Drinks closer to a $50-$60 in my honest opinion. -
Jack Daniel's Bonded Tennessee Whiskey
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed March 21, 2024 (edited March 25, 2024)Aroma - typical notes.. Bananas, cherries and caramel. Love the Jack profile! Taste - Follows the nose… bananas, caramel, cherries.. brown sugars… really sweet but very enjoyable Overall - this isn’t complex, this isn’t mind blowing. But this is extremely well done for a BiB product. The flavors are present are bold.. there is very little “subtle” flavors here in my opinion. The viscosity is quite nice for 100 proof and creates a decent coating on the palate. The finish isn’t long but that’s how most 100 proofers go though. For the price, this is really good.. just wish it was 750 instead of 700 ml bottle -
Aroma - smells like a candy shop… loads of chocolate notes and sugar candies. Very floral and tons of sweet fruits….Candied-apples and mixed berries…cinnamon graham cracker. Some honey-like cereal notes as well. This is an insanely sweet, aromatic whiskey. Very unique. No alcohol or oak presence whatsoever. Taste - Not what I was expecting… As complex the nose was, the palate is polar opposite. It’s still sweet but this almost seems too well balanced as far as tasting notes go.. Not overly complex at all. Caramel, cotton-candy, more sugar candy and slight chocolate notes. All very subtle. The alcohol presence is quite pronounced especially on the back of the palate and in the finish. Overall - Nose is wild and fantastic.. very unique and might not be for everyone especially if you enjoy the traditional flavors of oak, caramel and vanilla. The complexity on the palate is lacking for a BCS product. If you gravitate more towards the traditional flavors then this will be a strong avoid in my opinion. However, if you enjoy exploring whiskies that offer a unique experience, then this might be something worth looking into.

Reviewed February 5, 2024 (edited February 6, 2024)Aroma - nutty, dry cocoa powder, dark fruits, slight hint of honey Taste - Aroma transferring over to the palate here. Lot of nutty flavors with dark fruits and caramel. Really nice balance. Getting some baking spices on the finish bring a bit more complexity. Overall - Solid but nothing to get all worked up about -
Van Winkle Family Reserve Rye 13 Year
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 5, 2024 (edited February 6, 2024)Aroma- rye forward, dark fruits, slight hint of herbal tea and I’m also getting a floral note. Cinnamon and oak comes forward as it opens up. Taste - Rye is big and bold on that first sip. Proceeding sips…barnyard hay, light citrus note like an orange peel, faint hint of baking spices. Very smooth, even lightly creamy on the finish. Again, I’m picking up a floral note mid to back of the palate. -
Found North Cask Strength Whisky ( Batch 6)
Rye — Canada
Reviewed February 5, 2024 (edited February 15, 2024)Aroma - blueberry maple pancakes and vanilla frosting donuts. It literally smells like you are walking into a bakery in the morning. Getting a lot of antique store like notes as it opens (old, musty, oaky tones). Taste - Everything transferring from the nose to the palate. A shit ton of maple, vanilla frosting here. Old dusty oak lingers in the background holding it together like a backbone. Rye component starts to make its presence known right before the finish in the form of a massive burst of bubblegum. The finish ebbs and flows with darker tones of berries and even a slight rich chocolate fudge is picked up in the finish. Every once in a while that bubblegum rye note creeps into the finish which is a delight in my opinion. Overall - this is an absolute flavor bomb that drinks well below its proof. Very decadent, dessert like whiskey. Only knock on this is its viscosity at its proof. I’m being extremely nit-picky here, but the combination of heavy maple presence and high proof wants my brain to think that this should be more “sticky” and viscous on the palate. The finish is extremely long too which further makes me want to have this have more “body” to it. Worth the Price of Admission???? - fuck yea it is. The value you are getting in this around $150 is amazing. -
Wild Turkey 101 12 Year Distiller's Reserve
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 5, 2024 (edited September 24, 2024)Aroma - musty oak mixed with sweet vanilla, dark fruit and toffee. Taste - following the nose. Very long oaky finish though which is really awesome. Overall - complexity lacks, but the balance of flavors and the finish are really remarkable. -
Dry Hills Montana Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Montana , USA
Reviewed February 5, 2024 (edited February 6, 2024)Aroma - smells young but I’m getting lots of corn and wheat here. Rye is non existent. Marshmallow, lots of pear notes here mixed with apples and honey. Graham crackers coming through as it opens up. No alcohol presence. Taste - Getting more apples than pears here along with that honey graham cracker note. There is light bursts of orange creamsicle towards the back of the palate and continues a little bit through the finish that I enjoy. Alcohol makes itself known on the finish and it’s a nice touch. Overall - yeah this is good… but the price point isnt justified…. That orange creamsicle note is what drives up the experience for me. Very easy drinking but again… there are soma monster bourbons at this price range that are simply better
