Jefferson's Ocean Aged at Sea Voyage 23
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed August 7, 2021 (edited September 22, 2021)Aroma- oaky, vanilla, spice. Nicely balanced. Taste- medium bodied. Taste has more Carmel and vanilla. Some spice… touch of cherry. The oak is secondary here but that is okay bc the vanilla is really shining through. Heat was present on first couple of sips but dissipates quickly after that. Adding a few drops of water is recommend to speed up the process of mellowing out the heat and allowing that vanilla to shine through. -
Aroma - nothing really seems to come forward. There is a spice presence and some type of fruit… more tropical than dark fruit but I can’t pick point it. Taste - Surprisingly it lacks the complexity that I expected for a blend of 14 and two 8 year bourbons. Spice and oak dominate but it’s a little off balance. Add a couple drops of water and there’s more oak and vanilla. Spice mellows out making this an easy sipper. Overall - it’s good, but not great. The balance doesn’t seem to be there for me at this price point. Would pay $70 but apparently this one is going around $100.

Parker's Heritage Heavy Char Bourbon 10 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 21, 2021 (edited August 24, 2021)Aroma - huge charred oak.. vanilla, banana bread, cherries Taste- holy smokes. This one is absolutely incredible. Layers of vanilla and toasted oak. I get a ton of toffee, some cherries, brown sugar. Decided not to add a couple drops of water. This one is packed with richness and flavor that it hides the alcohol extremely well -
Chattanooga Whiskey Bottled in Bond (Spring 2017 Vintage)
Bourbon — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed July 20, 2021 (edited July 26, 2022)Aroma - caramel and apple slices. Smoke and butterscotch. There another fruity component but I can’t quite pin point it Taste- Quite a bit of complexity blends nicely with the bourbon heat. Sweet floral notes with butterscotch come through. The smoke is more subtle here than in the nose, not picking up too much char. Dark fruit presence as well. A couple drops of water and the butterscotch, oak and vanilla really start to shine through. Overall, it’s another outstanding offer by Chattanooga.55.0 USD per Bottle -
Blanton's Original Single Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 17, 2021 (edited July 28, 2021)Overpriced… some liquor stores sell at $100 per and that is absurd. Okay to purchase a bottle to see what it’s about… go collect the tops if you must… but there are far better bourbons at the $60-$65 price range than this. OF 1910 and 1920 are both under $60 Chatt 111 under $50 Willett Rye 4yr Smoke Wagon Uncut $70 Rare Breed $50 Just listing a few bourbons that I think are as good if not better than this. Overall- this is a good tasting bourbon but the flavor simply doesn’t match the price point or the craze. I’ve had 6-8 bottles and each time I just feel that it is lacking -
Blanton's Straight From the Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 17, 2021 (edited January 20, 2022)Very good. But I feel that Blantons in general is simply overrated. There was a bit more fruit on this compared to regular Blantons and a bit more caramel. But for something so pricey and impossible to acquire, this was a bit underwhelming -
Aroma- massive cinnamon (red hots) and oak. Picking up some ginger, leather and even subtle Dr. pepper. Incredibly complex nose. Very nice Taste- obviously massive heat in this. Had to add a couple drops of water to help open it up and it once you do, the flavor pops… bold spices of cinnamon, slight rye… there another spice present that I can’t quite pin point (maybe allspice or nutmeg?) . Oak and vanilla. The finish is long… about 5-7 minutes worth. Overall - definitely in the 4-4.15 range. Overpriced but still solid. Should be $60-$70 tops80.0 USD per Bottle
