Blade And Bow Bourbon 22 Year (2015 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 27, 2017 (edited February 21, 2021)Great nose, very sweet, with brown sugar, caramel. Almost smells like creme brulee. I could smell this for days. Palate is different than the nose: some floral notes, some baking spice, pepper, leather. Medium finish. 11/27/17 -
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 21, 2017 (edited May 23, 2018)B517, 124.2 proof. Tastes both floral and a bit nutty. Strong flavors, and spicy. Long finish. Feels like it needs to open up a bit. Will have to try it again later. 11/13/17 With a few drops of Old Limestone, it really opens up the nose. Heightens the spice. Whiskey of the Year? Maybe, maybe not. But definitely delicious. 12/11/17 A118, 130.6 proof. Rich nose. Deep caramel. Rich palate as well. Classic notes, pleasant sweetness. Fantastic char notes. Doesn't drink like its proof. 5/27/18 B518, 133.4 proof. Fresh scents on the nose, like newly washed linens. A bit 9f beef jerky as well. On the palate, this is all backend. Almost muted initially, but the spice and heat explode, great hug on this. Baking spice, oak, roasted marshmallow, char, with dark chocolate on the finish. Good stuff. 5/27/18 -
Knob Creek 25th Anniversary Single Barrel Reserve
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 10, 2017 (edited November 11, 2020)122 proof. Different than 2001 LE 14-year, and different than some of the older Single Barrel Reserves I've had. Mostly a classic bourbon profile, but there's also a bright acidic note, almost like sour caramel and pine wood. 11/6/17 -
Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Cherry Wood Smoked Barley
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 9, 2017 (edited March 6, 2018)Surprisingly I get banana bread on the nose. Not a hint. It's strong and obvious to me. Plus some sap. On the palate, obvious creamy malt notes. It's sweet at first, a bit one notey. The malt quickly follows, some earth notes, a hint of nuts, some dark fruit. Strong dark chocolate, I seem to get that with Woodford offerings. The banana bread is there in the aftertaste. Interestingly, I'm searching hard for the smoke flavor and just not getting much of it. But this stands on its own without it. It's definitely interesting, worth trying. 11/9/17 -
Jack Daniel's Tennessee Straight Rye
Rye — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed November 4, 2017 (edited April 24, 2018)Bananas and creme brulee on the nose. Sweet, floral, a kick of spice at the end. Exactly what you would expect a Jack Daniel's rye to be. 11/4/17
