Batch 15, bottle 123, 86 proof. A bit of sharpie marker on the nose, and some sour fruit. A hint of clove. On the palate, smooth, tastes like honey. Not much of the young notes I expect from craft distilleries these days, thankfully. Palate is much better than the nose. After the wave of honey, there's lingering spice. Not complex, but it's pleasant and very drinkable. 4/18/2020

Haven't had this in while. About what I remembered. Pleasant nose - malt, yeast rolls. Smooth on the palate with a spice kick that builds. Surprisingly warm finish. Malty, but not overpowering. Some sweetness. Bitterness lingers. 4/15/2020

Strong cacao nibs on the nose, I also get brown sugar, birthday cake, vanilla, and slight mint. It's nice. On the palate, a bit astringent, sweet, more cacao nibs and mint, a hint of pumpkin pie. Spicy but the heat is mild. Another solid offering from BCS. 4/7/2020

Slight citrus on the nose, some clove honey, furniture polish, musk, and cologne. A young note as well... which fortunately isn't heavy on the palate. It's there but doesn't dominate. Smooth, mild sweetness, slightly floral, some turpentine, with a nutty and funky note at the end that probably came from the brandy barrels. Ends spicy, with some bitterness. One of the better new products released recently. 4/7/2020

Wood, cacao nibs, citrus, and mild honey on the nose. On the palate, a rush of spice balanced with sweetness, fall spices, slight turpentine, cacao nibs, finishes with dark chocolate that lingers in the finish. Drinks like its proof, maybe even lower. Nicely done. 4/5/2020

A bit of sour fruit on the nose, some cacao nibs, an acidic character. But the nose is muted, a surprise. Initially smooth on the palate, velvety, great mouthfeel, then the spice quickly crescendos. Cinnamon, some sweet tea, rye notes. The cacao nibs show up again, with slight pecan bitterness. Spice really lingers. Warn Kentucky hug. This one's a beaut. 3/11/2020

You might get some ginger, nutmeg, and shortbread on the nose, but it's not too obvious. I'm looking for gingerbread and cocoa notes since that's what the label says, but if I hadn't known not sure it would jump out at me. Slight citrus and wood. It's a pleasant nose. On the palate, its smooth, some creamy notes, cinnamon, and finishes with cacao nibs. Again, I seem to get some gingerbread notes, but that may be the power of suggestion. Regardless, it's a good bourbon, a classic profile with some fall spices. I think it would have been noticeably better at 100 proof, but it's still good. Drinkable, very. 2/5/20.

Batch 1. Big nose, lots of fruit and sugar, it smells like Juicy Fruit gum. Some cinnamon and sandalwood as well. Very pleasant. On the palate, the nose carries over, with more cinnamon, which lingers throughout, sandalwood, and Juicy Fruit, but then it turns, finishing with some Cherry Coke and Dr. Pepper. It's almost like two different bourbons, you get a different one in the beginning and at the end. Fairly long, slightly bitter finish, like cacao or pecan nibs, and a bit of cough syrup. 1/20/20

8 years 6 months. Good nose, with sweetness, some astringent wood, and a whiff of bananas. Pleasant. On the palate, the nose carries over. Sweet, astringent, fruit, a bit of cinnamon spice that lingers. Hint of leather. Pleasant dram but not too smooth, when you want a little extra. The wood note is a bit too much for my liking, but I can see people liking this. 1/17/20
