Distiller’s review is spot-on. It starts as a smooth oily very light feeling then BAM! It’s really solid.

Let me preface this by saying: I love George Dickel 12. I love the GD Rye. This, however is a different animal. This is a refined whisky. You can tell extra time was put into it. Nose: butter, corn, burnt sugar, some pear. Mouth: smooth, sweet, the corn and butter pops. Pepper rounds out the sip. Finish: short and peppery. Some lingering tartness of fruit as well. I enjoyed this one a lot. This is a fine example of a Tennessee whisky.

2017 release: Nose: sweet and full of depth of spices Mouth: light, fruit-laced, and the sweet overall feeling of eating fruit with the skin still on. Very interesting indeed. Finish: nice and peppery, nearly no burn. Some sharp oak notes finish this one off. A solid 4.25/5. $69.99 in Michigan on 3/25/18

Batch C917. Wow. This is fantastic. It explodes into a vanilla custard bomb of flavor that is smooth and rich. Balanced and full of flavor. This is an A+ Barrel Proof bourbon. At $60, buy it whenever you see it!

This is a simple and smooth wheated bourbon. For the price point, it’s really good. Nose is pretty much all alcohol. Mouth is sweet, smooth, not too oily, you get some cinnamon red hot. Finish: short and sweet. Warms the chest on the way down. For a budget whiskey, this is a solid one.

All alcohol and burn. This was a big disappointment to me. The nose also had hints of glue. The spice is overpowering and this isn’t balanced at all. Hard pass.

$15 for a pour 3/9/2018 Absolutely amazing. A perfect blend of sherry and scotch. The nose is strong with dried fruit. The mouth is oily and full of intense sherry, fruit, sweetness. The finish is smooth as silk. This takes top prize for the best Macallan I’ve tried. Absolutely a work of art.
