Very Old Barton 100 Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 3, 2018 (edited March 6, 2019)$14 a bottle? Are you kidding me??? This is a fantastic warm, smooth, simple bourbon. It doesn’t take on heirs. It’s just a great bourbon. It gets a 4/5 based on the price to value. Pour some of this into a glass with one ice cube and it shines. What an unbelievable blind purchase. $14 for a fifth in Michigan 2/3/18 -
Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 3, 2018 (edited April 24, 2018)This is such an incredibly easy to drink bourbon. The nose is incredibly sweet. It has a wonderful smooth taste that turns into gentle spice and is warm all the way down. The finish is fast, letting you immediately go back for more. Another solid offering from Buffalo Trace. This may replace my daily drinker permanently. For $30 a fifth, you can’t beat the value. -
George Dickel No. 12
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed January 21, 2018 (edited March 9, 2018)My go-to mixing whiskey. I feel it’s better than JD and has a nice sweet and buttery vanilla taste. There are JD people and there are Dickel people. You can like both, but you’ll always like one a little more. I’m definitely a person that will go for the George Dickel every chance. -
Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 21, 2018 (edited March 23, 2018)I purchased this based solely off of reviews and recommendations. This is absolutely fantastic. Although the nose is nearly 100% ethanol, the taste is what really shines. It hits your tongue with none of the alcohol-drenched smell. It ends up turning into this beautiful melody of spice and fruit. It then turns to oak, fig, dark chocolate... it just goes on and on. The finish is fast, but it doesn’t matter here. You want to continue drinking it because it’s just so good. I can see why people love this. $42 a bottle that outshines bourbon twice its cost. 4.5/5 based highly on cost to value. -
Jack Daniel's Old No. 7
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed January 16, 2018 (edited January 28, 2018)It’s for mixing or taking shots. That’s about it. -
I was excited to finally try this so I picked up a little 375ml bottle. The nose is fruit and sugar. The mouth feel is very thin. It lacks that normal bourbon “coat your mouth” feel. It turns from sweet to peppery to corn mash and finishes REALLY fast. Too fast. It’s okay. Nothing worth writing home about. 3/5. For the money, it is not a bad option. I still feel classic Maker’s Mark beats this one out for the every day budget whisky.
