Freeland Spirits Bourbon
Bourbon — (bottled in) Oregon, USA
Reviewed April 13, 2019 (edited February 3, 2022)I finally got to taste this tonight while all my bourbon buddies were opening crazy things like Heaven's Door and Rock Hill Farm and Parkers 8. But no, I had to try this sample from one of my reps. I was a bit surprised as to the ABV on this. 46%, Batch 002, bottle 550. Ok, that's the technical stuff. The nose was pleasant with colorful and lightly toasted semi-melted caramel. The palate was much more intense than anticipated. I got blasted with something reminiscent of non-alcoholic fake dark cherry consomé with medium cinnamon spice. The feeling in my mouth was overwhelming, but not in a good way. Because of the moderately low ABV, this Bourbon felt way unbalanced. Everyone's a critic and maybe I've trained my palate to coincide with much bigger bourbon houses in the midwest, but I still think if this Bourbon would have been closer to 99 proof, it would have been much more pleasurable to drink. All I got was flavor without much on heat. Too bad, but I hope Freeland creates a barrel proof in the future. I will certainly look forward to it. Cheers! -
Michter's US*1 Toasted Barrel Finish Bourbon (2018 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 8, 2019 (edited May 8, 2019)This was terrible. I wished it was sweet, instead it was a headache in a bottle. What the he'll was Michter's thinking. -
I kind of sort of dig this. Spicy nose and on the palate it turns to toasty caramel with a rusty nail flavor. Not so sweet makes this different. Lotta shit going in this bottle. Worth the 50 bones for sure. Just for the quirkiness. Also...BTAC fans will notice that the bottle is exactly the same as the Elmer bottle. I found that very interesting.50.0 USD per BottleTown & Country Markets

Reviewed March 3, 2019 (edited March 4, 2019)Nice! Really nice! Not overwhelming, a little light on the nose, a bit of citrus action and a long sweet finish. Pairs extremely well with roasted brussel sprouts. dig it!!! -
Kavalan Classic Single Malt
Single Malt — Taiwan
Reviewed February 10, 2019 (edited February 11, 2019)Interesting! smoky and extremely salty. if it wasn't for the salt, I'd be down with it, but that salt really kills it.
