Journeyman Distillery Corsets, Whips & Whiskey
Wheat Whiskey — Michigan, USA
Reviewed December 12, 2023 (edited June 18, 2024)Single grain 100% wheat whiskey. so damn soft and smooth. Its 117 proof should not be feared by anyone afraid of higher proofs. This is a VERY smooth drinking whiskey which is a term i typically despise. There is brown sugar to start, caramel and toffee following with some mild oak, hay and cereal notes. The finish is short but nice with a prominent brown sugar and mild spice. Im so impressed with this whiskey. It’s absolutely incredible and i must find a bottle after this tasting. While its not a bruiser which im normally used to, its a fantastic change up especially with the mash bill. -
Immediate caramel sweetness, some vanilla notes, unique dashes of toasted coconut, cinnamon and brown sugar then the oak comes along adding some tannin, finally finishing with a baking spice and mild oak, medium to long finish thats effortless after the first sip. fanatastic whiskey, maybe even one of my fav penelope releases. Much different from their four grain releases.

Plantation Xaymaca Special Dry
Gold Rum — Jamaica
Reviewed December 5, 2023 (edited December 6, 2023)First time trying a real jamaican rum so please bare with me. theres some dashes of brown sugar to begin but thats the last time your gonna taste it. Next notes are some dried fruit, intense bannana, oak, leather and spices. The finish comes along as dry, mildy spice with a funk i can imagine is what rum drinkers call “hogo”. Hogo imo tastes like mildly rotten fermenting fruit. Its a unique note that im not sure if i like. Ill make another review once im finished with the bottle27.0 USD per BottleSpec's Wines, Spirits & Finer Foods
