I let it sit for 20 minutes. Nose horchata, chocolate, buttery. Taste sharp initially, alcohol is strong almost astringent. Corn, toasted marshmallow, caramel, sweetness shows up. A couple drops of water gets rid of the burn and leaves a long caramel finish
Aroma is deep, heavy and complex and is absolutely my favorite part of this whiskey with that “Tennessee Whiskey” (George Dickel) profile threading through the sweet, spicy and earthy notes; Palate isn’t as rich as the aroma, like a 3/4 volume version, but still with that TN profile weaving and threading everything together; Finish is nice and long and fades out slowly to that sweet dried corn TN profile.
I like the idea behind this series from Barrell, and I'm a big fan of the brand, but I don't think this one quite hits the mark...
Nose: Corn, youthfulness, cereal grains
Palate: Ethanol, cinnamon, butter, vanilla
It provides a long finish, with some slight heat.
Tasting this with an unsalted pecan really improves the experience.
