Cruzan Aged Dark Rum

Cruzan Aged Dark Rum has a clear, golden appearance, and uniform "fence board" alcohol legs. The aroma is of mild, blended pancake syrup. The flavor is of charcoal, oak, and very low profile (bland) molasses. Mouthfeel is relatively light, and Cruzan Aged Dark Rum finishes quickly. RJT

For a basic dark rum, this hits pretty good. As a sipper, its pretty much the bottom end of what I enjoy neat in a glencairn. Cruzan light aged rum doesn’t quite cut it but this squeaks in. For $12 a fifth its an incredible value and as a mixer it can’t be beat as the foundation of your rum drinks or for a basis for homemade spiced rum.

Great smell, but there is a spice taste that isn’t pleasing. Decent when warmed and add clove and nutmeg for winter.

The nose is identical to the lighter variety: clean grass and citrus. Palate is a bit warmer, with brown sugar and vanilla. Tasty and a screaming deal.
