Cruzan Aged Dark Rum

For a basic dark rum, this hits pretty good. As a sipper, its pretty much the bottom end of what I enjoy neat in a glencairn. Cruzan light aged rum doesn’t quite cut it but this squeaks in. For $12 a fifth its an incredible value and as a mixer it can’t be beat as the foundation of your rum drinks or for a basis for homemade spiced rum.

Great smell, but there is a spice taste that isn’t pleasing. Decent when warmed and add clove and nutmeg for winter.

The nose is identical to the lighter variety: clean grass and citrus. Palate is a bit warmer, with brown sugar and vanilla. Tasty and a screaming deal.

Tastes like sweet molasses and leather. Fun and warm, but I wish I was on a beach somewhere.
