Huge step up from the old 1783. Tobacco, vanilla, caramel, oak, some dark fruits. Heavy hitter in that $20-30 range. And it's on the cheaper end! Much prefer this to EC small batch. Idk if it's better than buffalo trace though.
Pure, modest, exceptional value bourbon. Oak, vanilla, clove, cinnamon…Medium finish, a little light on the palate but just enough to keep the dram interesting and satisfying. Great package redesign and increase in proof. Cheers!
I know its cheap and not that impressive but something for me clicked with this. Slightly nutty sweet not bitter just enough oak. This has to be different stocks than the older version.
On first sip, almost salty that slowly mellows to a light honey. The burn is almost slightly delayed, but it stays strong for a long time, until it dissapates into a round mouthfeel. The interesting thing is the residual saltiness coats the top of the mouth; unexpected. Not much of a bouquet that I noticed. Definitely a less complex Bourbon, but the long lingering heat and odd salty/sweet combo makes it worth a taste.
