Ezra Brooks 99 Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon

This is good. I use this for mixing. For the price if I was going to drink neat, it will be Early Times over this every time, but something needs to be a high quality mixer, and this is the one.

This was a pleasantly surprising bourbon. Not overly complex but bright and cheery! Touches of cinnamon and and oak as well.

It’s easy to drink. Fairly smooth in that it’s burn is pretty short lived. Tried it NEAT Nose is dusty grass and corn. I don’t get any caramel or any oak. Palate isn’t super rich. It’s fairly grassy and that corn shows up. After a bit of spice and sweetness there is a Short burn that fades to nothing. Better than expected. Paid $25 Will try it with an Ale8

NOSE Cornbread, caramel, vanilla taffy, butterscotch, cereal grain sweetness, oak and peanuts and a touch of grassy fresh corn. The aroma has a balanced, diverse sweetness to it, a bit light overall in the delivery, but the range of grain to dark sweets makes it interesting with a touch of oak to ground it. PALATE Caramel, cornbread, vanilla taffy, butterscotch, cereal grain sweetness, oak and peanuts with a bit more of that grassy fresh corn and touches of herbal spice and roasted marshmallows. Palate is nearly the same with a more pronounced caramel and some added herbal spice and toasted marshmallow notes. FINISH Medium -> Dried corn, butterscotch, spice, oak and fresh corn. Finish is a soft sweet grainy fade that starts dry and ends fresh.

Nose is light dusty corn Palate is gassy and roasted peanuts and a metallic sweetness. Thin and drying Finish is a little spice and then it disappears It’s $20ish bottle. I didn’t have high expectations, it’s ok, just not the flavor profile I prefer.
