Glenglassaugh Evolution

This is a highly drinkable and approachable Scotch. A great introductory Scotch for a novice with taste, and a fabulous dose of smooth and balanced for the more experienced palate. There’s a comfort with this spirit that is immediate; with its notes of fruit and cream—along with a delicate but well-placed hint of smoke. At home in a flask on a starry night and palatial on the palate from a Glencairn.

Smell is buttery barley. Taste is butter, oak, spice, that then transforms completely and drastically into peppery ripe banana. Never seen a whisky transform in my mouth like that. Finish is long and tingly, with some more fruit and pepper. Scratch that, the pepper is still there. It never goes away. How interesting.

Average on the nose and palate. The finish is full of vanilla ice cream...lovely.

Nose: vanilla sweet, some sharpness when noseing deeper. Palate: mild, sweet then spicy notes getting to be dominant. Aftertaste: creamy, pungent spices, After few sips I can hardly feel anything but spices, sweetness and some faint bitterness. With water on nose less vanilla, more alcohol and less pungent aftertaste.

Bottle kill review. Sweet bananas foster, butterscotch, creme brulee, cherry cola, and milk chocolate on the nose. The palate is creamy, a little young and hot, it's also sweet but not cloying with more butter scotch, bananas foster, vanilla and caramel. The finish is long, sweet and peppery with more butter scotch and some toffee. And, oh yeah, the empty glass is amazing, with all the various notes hanging on plus some added berries.
