Tasting neat, first pour of the bottle.
Not what I was expecting. Huge notes of oak, cherry, and anise, shrouded in a veil of booze.
More oak on the palate with some spice and dry licorice, with an oily and dry finish.
Good neat, looking forward to trying this in an old fashioned.
A really unique flavour. Has smooth fruity and caramel tastes with this oaky undertone that develops into a nutty aftertaste that I wasn’t expecting. Very pleasant, and something a little different - lovely as an old fashioned
Nose: Dry, grainy
Pallet: Rye spice
Finish: Nice heat
Overall I’m not impressed from Jim Beam, this is a basic JB offering but will have to try the Knob Creek Rye.
Enjoyed this by a camp fire. Nose had a good amount of licorice and a hint of citrus, maybe oranges. The citrus carried through to the palate and then a nice long, rye appropriate spice at the finish
