Enjoyed this by a camp fire. Nose had a good amount of licorice and a hint of citrus, maybe oranges. The citrus carried through to the palate and then a nice long, rye appropriate spice at the finish
Plucked this gem hoping it would scratch the itch for a rye. It's quality stuff, and I'd agree that it drinks like a normal bourbon. Flavors are as advertised aannd at the price point it's a steal, Thank You Jim Beam. Rye is all the hardiness of this liquid. And the finish seems warmer than the 45%abv. Oak is dry. It's impressive and would make a great gift.

I know this is Jim Murray's favourite rye whiskey.
I'm just sipping this and it's dry and oaky.
I can taste caramel, banana, toffee etc. but it's still too dry to my taste.
Very good in cocktails and mixing with soft drinks.
I prefer JD Rye more rounded and sweet in taste.
