Journeyman Distillery Corsets, Whips & Whiskey

Single grain 100% wheat whiskey. so damn soft and smooth. Its 117 proof should not be feared by anyone afraid of higher proofs. This is a VERY smooth drinking whiskey which is a term i typically despise. There is brown sugar to start, caramel and toffee following with some mild oak, hay and cereal notes. The finish is short but nice with a prominent brown sugar and mild spice. Im so impressed with this whiskey. It’s absolutely incredible and i must find a bottle after this tasting. While its not a bruiser which im normally used to, its a fantastic change up especially with the mash bill.

Cask strength immediately apparent; concentrated ginger, champagne and spice; missing sweet, caramel profile of traditional bourbon, although this is a single malt 100% wheated whiskey. Organic certified with Michigan grown wheat. Handmade.

Heavy butterscotch on the nose. Finishes long with licorice.

Woodsy, sweet, vanilla aroma that translates to the initial palate. A bit hot on front of the palate as well. Good mouth feel but the flavors dissipate rather quickly and you're left with a slightly tannic and thin finish. How did this get whiskey of the year on the Ascot awards? As with other whiskies, the flavours last longer when paired with food.

A rare wheater. Amazing nose of pure butterscotch. Pallate is a little cherry, sweetnees, strong wheat and easiest drinking 117 proof.

Creamy, chocolate, slightly spicy and tannic, and when you add a few drops of water to tame the 57.5 proof, it goes down so smooth like an iced oatmeal cookie. I can mostly understand why it won Ascot's whiskey of the year with its complexity and uniqueness.
