Larceny Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch C922

Mixed berries, vanilla, and oak are present on the nose. I noticed heavy spiced apple, berries, maple syrup, and a nice burnt oak flavor. Finishes with the oak and maple note. Flavorful and delicious.

C922, blend of 6 and 8 year straight bourbons, bottled at barrel proof of 126.6, Sept 2022 release. On the nose, sweet caramel corn and maple syrup with a little ethanol. In the mouth, vanilla, brown sugar, caramel, graham cracker, an ethanol blast, and then spice and pepper takes over. Spice lingers in a relatively long finish that is sweet and a little hot. Medium coating mouthfeel, brown copper color in the glass. Less tannic oak and more ethanol than C921. This is a big bourbon, sweet, easy, a little tannic oak, but balanced and complex enough to enjoy neat. An ice cube flattens and calms the sweet and ethanol, balances it with the spice. Breaking Bourbon named this as their #1 Best Bourbon of 2022. It is good, but that good? Will have to revisit this.

Color is a brownish red that practically glows. The nose is like a cherry vanilla cola. On the tongue it’s a deep sweet apple and pancake taste. Sort of a bitter toffee aftertaste. Adding a decent amount of water really brings it home, so it’s really similar to my experience with the a122, which was my first entry to this series and was tremendous. Mellowed out gives you a fruity blueberry/cherry pie and cherry cola on the aftertaste. I read the review on breaking bourbon and I agree with most if not all of that evaluation. Excellent bottle and considering trying to find another while they’re available.
