Lohin McKinnon Single Malt

The aroma is rich and fruity with honey and vanilla. It sits on the palate with a touch of apple, buttery notes, woody and soft mouthfeel and the finish is medium, fruity at the end.

N: Malt, cereal, wood and honey P: Light and creamy, orange oil citrus, wood, slight bitterness. F: Short, sharp and spicy, bursts into the mouth with a buttery richness. Not too much to say, my first (and largely final thoughts) were that this drinks like a slightly more funky monkey shoulder. Enjoyable, and probably easy to sink a bottle with good company. Lohin Mckinnon Single Malt 43% abv. Bottled in Canada by Central City Brewers&Distillers. Aged in oak/ex-bourbon casks. No age listed, website confirms it is aged for 3 years. Natural color. Aroma: light sweetness, fruitiness, very minor oak. Taste: grainy/malty, light sweetness, some fruitiness, and a light finish. Overpriced, I was expecting better after the great experience with the chocolate malt variety they make. overall, it's a decent whisky and would recommend a try. Cost: $44.95 plus tax for a 750 ml (purchased in California) Grade: C+/B-

Nose: Sweet green apple sauce, apple juice, floral nectar sweetness, light mannuka honey, sweet barley sugars and light grain, some fresh fennel and anise, red apple skins, white pepper with some wintergreen mint/menthol, some light toffee and caramel coated oak, red apple/green apple + strawberry and cherry hard candies, light candied lemon and orange peels, a hint of some freshly baked Italian and French bread, a touch of buttery green apples, a small touch of sweet tea/sweet old oak casks, hint of white wine (Chardonnay, Cabernet blanc, and Pinot Grigio), some spearmint, a touch of tinned peaches and cream, light underripe Bartlett pear Palate: Sweet red apples and barley sugars, light mead, honeyed cinnamon infused hot apple cider, apple juice infused with mint, soft white pepper, light oak tannins, a hint of caramel with remnants of fudge sugars Finish: Apple yogurt. Light oak tannins, a hint of white pepper, a reminder of honey, tangy peach, a hint of toffee

Smooth and easy to drink but very boring and forgettable. Thin and watery flavour profile.

Nose: citrus, floral, summer and starfruit. Taste: honey suckle sweetness, chamomile tea, starfruit and light spice.

Smells strongly of citrus fruit and shortbread. Crisp and refreshing on the palate with a bit of a lemon zest. Finishes with a light spice. Pretty nice for a young whisky.

A very solid dram. On the sweet side, no smoke or pepper bite, really nice summer sipper when you’re watching the sun set into the ocean.
