Russell's Reserve 6 Year Rye

My go to rye neat for good flavor and price. I’ll do Pikesville when wanting something really good. I’ll do knob creek rye for a great mixer.

The nose is creamy and smells like fresh-baked bread with hints of vanilla frosting. It’s not overly spicy for a rye, the spice is more subtle. It’s very rich and well-balanced with a smoky oak after taste. Excellent neat.

Nose is clean bourbon. Taste is very sweet with oak taste underneath. I like it.

Vanilla glaze, light mint, sweetness. The flavors are familiar and good, just dialed back a little too much for me. Could use more proof.

Smooth...crisp...a tad spicy but over-all, quite tasty.

Not a huge rye fan, but this is pretty good. It smells like the grain and the taste is dominated by it. After the first hit it really drops off in flavor but builds back with a bright, stinging rye bite. There's sweetness and a bit of fireball. No need to have this again.
