At 116 proof, it packs a sweet, tart, rye punch. 95% rye blended from single barrels and other high end Kentucky and Tennessee barrels.
Green apple, cinnamon, baking spices, ice cools the hest. Nice creamy body. Price has dropped to $30. in Virginia. At this price you should try it! This one will grow on you.
Not sure I can speak to all of the complexities in the featured tasting notes. Chocolate and spearmint? Probably not. But this is spicy and fiery for sure, and without even checking the abv I could tell this one packed a punch right up front. This is a good sipping rye for the evenings, so long as you take your time with it.
Color is pale gold. Rested for 10 in glencairn. Its hot up front due to the proof, but it mellows out very nicely. Hits with a spicy sweet honey, and stays warm but barey burning all the way through. Solid and enjoying the bottle as is. It gets smoother as it goes along. Can’t wait to try as a mixer, but completely enjoying on its own. Its on sale. I’m buying more.
Nice cask strength rye that doesn’t break the bank. The nose is rye spice, cinnamon, and spearmint. Palate is a short sweet note initially like brown sugar, it opens up fast and hot. Big cinnamon and spearmint which ends up transforming into cedar and gooey caramels. This finish is long and almost menthol numbing in a good way. Good anytime sipper; awesome on a cold winters night.
