Still Austin The Musician Cask Strength

Shockingly good. For a 2 year bourbon. Bravo Still Austin. At 4 years you will give EHTBP a run for its money and at 6 will surpass it. similar taste profile to the Benchmark full proof but it's the cousin that went to Harvard vs Marietta community College. I want to describe this comparison accurately without taking anything away from Still Austin. It's in that BT ER taste range

Nose: Very strong and fruity. Rather complex flavors and something new with every pass of the glass. Taste: Good bite to start, rather fruity. Apple, apricot, with a hint of nuttiness to me. Finished smooth and clean. The exhale is refreshing.

Most notably, for a Texas whiskey, this doesn't have the distinct funk that I usually associate with whiskies aged in the Texas heat. Noses and tastes more like something from Kentucky than anything else I've tried from Texas. The youth is there, which is to be expected since this is only 2 years old, but it's surprisingly drinkable. At 4 years I suspect this will be really good. It has a little bit of fresh off the still moonshine type note to it - the raw grain and sourness that I taste in my friend's homemade moonshine. Can't give this high marks, but 3 stars for potential seems reasonable.

Surprisingly deep flavor for a high proofer (118). Like the Musician offering has nice citrus notes with pecan and vanilla underneath. Worth trying for sure.
