I try to like this - this is my 3rd bottle but I just can't seem to like it when compared against other comparable single malts from the same region. It's priced fairly inexpensive and it has some vanilla / sweet caramel notes mixed in with some black pepper... the finish is short and nose wasn't really remarkable or even memorable... there's other ponies in this stable that run faster and further...
Pretty standard Scotch flavor and underwhelming because of it. Apples on the nose, but they don't show on the palate. For a bourbon and Sherry cask aged Scotch, the color is very light. Must be old barrels and not a lot of time in them.
