Gooderham & Worts Four Grain Canadian Whisky
Canadian — Ontario, Canada
Reviewed December 19, 2021 (edited May 20, 2022)This blend of four grains is well- balanced and very delicious. I enjoy it neat with one ice cube. It is smooth with some sweetness from the corn and wheat. The rye is prominent and integrates well with the other grains. A winner in my book and a pleasure to enjoy.40.0 CAD per Bottle -
Wild Turkey Bourbon 101
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 16, 2021 (edited December 20, 2021)I have always preferred scotch to bourbon. Until now. The bourbons I've had in the past were sickenly sweet to me. Then I tried Wild Turkey 101. It was love at first taste. The sweetness is subdued and the nauseating cherry taste is far in the background. Everything works perfectly together in this spectacular recipe. I love the proof and the rounded semi-dry flavor. I enjoy it neat with one large ice cube. A 2oz pour keeps the flavor from being overly diluted all the way down. Even in Canada, where it sells for $42, I am a happy man. -
To me, this is the Gold Standard of Vodkas. If it were'nt for the $60 price, here in Ontario, this would be the only vodka I would buy. Occasionally, it goes on sale for $50 and I'll splurge and buy a bottle. I drink my vodka on the rocks with a few olives or a twist of lemon. When drinking Stoli Elit, you know you are drinking the best. I prefer wheat vodkas and this is the finest example I know of.60.0 CAD per Bottle

Here in Ontario, this vodka is an excellent value at under $30. Made from wheat, this is a very smooth vodka, probably because of the 11 stages of filtration in the distilling process. I am partial to wheat vodkas and am really enjoying my first bottle. This is lovely on ice (made with spring water) and lemon peels. I've found that Nemiroff is completely head ache free (in moderation),which is important to vodka drinkers. I will definitely buy this again, as the other alternatives are in the $50 to $60 range where I live.29.0 CAD per Bottle

I bought this on sale at the LCBO in Ontario for $65 on sale. After a couple of drams I ordered six more at the sale price. It seems that the public enjoys this dram more than the experts. The experts rate an excellent dram poorly, as if all of us can afford to spend $100 a bottle or more. This single malt at $65 Canadian dollars is as good as it gets where I live.65.0 CAD per Bottle

I was surprised by the excellent taste of this single malt. It is a beautiful blend of ingredients that offer excellent value, especially on sale in Ontario at $65. The smoke is mild and the sherry is the same. But both add to the enjoyment of this excellent malt. It is a great sipper and I plan to add another 5 bottles while the sale is on.65.0 CAD per Bottle

All I hear about this single malt is that it's not nearly as good as it was a few years ago. Unfortunately, the increased popularity of single malts has required the producers to increase their volume and of cource quality suffers. But fortunately for me, I still enjoy this dram and will continue to buy and enjoy it for the foreseeable future. Nothing in life remains the same. My first two marriages started out on a positive note, but soured as the years progressed. But Laphroaig 10 at 43% is still all right with me.74.0 CAD per Bottle

John Walker & Sons Celebratory Blend
Blended — Scotland
Reviewed November 27, 2020 (edited January 16, 2022)I bought three bottles of JWCB based on the reviews. Then, after enjoying less than an ounce, went out and bought three more. I like single malts with smoke. But there is something about an exceptional blended scotch that thrills me to the core. This JWCB is definitely one of those. Although there is no age statement, you know you are drinking whiskies of age. It's smooth and fruity with a little smoke on the finish. It is a delight. I plan on putting away another 12 bottles.105.0 CAD per Bottle -
Lagavulin 8 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed September 30, 2020 (edited October 17, 2021)Here in Ontario, this whisky sells for $90 Canadian. The 16 year old sells for $145 Canadian. Price is the reason I purchased the 8 year old. It's not as rounded and flavorful as the 16, but that is to be expected. Tastewise, it is a delicious dram, with the smoke and fruit balancing each other perfectly. In this case, I believe you get more than you pay for in the 8 year old. The 16 is overpriced and doesn't deliver anywhere near the $55 additional cost. I will buy this again.
