I used to drink this years ago thinking this was a great Vodka and my how times have changed. I do not expect a lot from vodka and while this is pretty rough to drink neat it does mix well and I can find it everywhere I buy liquor there are a lot of vodkas on the market that taste better and are cheaper. I do think Absolute has very little rubbing alcohol taste when chilled but if it is served at room temperature that taste does come out. As I stated earlier it does mix well and that is nice. I have not had the opportunity to make a Martini yet but I do not expect any major ups or downs with it. I still prefer Stolli and Sobieski over Absolute but I also not drink that much vodka these days. This is a good but not great vodka that is now outclassed by better ones on the market.20.0 USD per Bottle

Over the weekend I met up with some of my drinking friends and one of them offered this to me as an inexpensive Scotch and it was not pleasant. Poured neat it was sharp and watery and with ice, the flavors smoothed out but it still was not tasty. He told me he got it on sale for $13 so for that price it is not bad but I have a hard time seeing a use for this stuff. I have read that Grant has some good blends but this is not one of them.13.0 USD per Bottle

I like this drink. I first had this as a free sample and finally broke down and bought my own bottle. While I think this is a little too sweet neat if you put a little ice in it the sweetness mellows and it is a dessert in a glass. Also, if this is put on vanilla ice cream it is amazing. As a drinker, it really is nice once it is mellow out. I like it in the evening but it is not an everyday drinker. As soon as you open the bottle you can smell the peach and it does mix so well with the Jim Beam bourbon and other than William Wolf Pecan Bourbon this is a best-flavored bourbon on the market. I can see this bourbon being a great mixer and after dinner drink. This product is not as good other peach bourbons on the market today.16.0 USD per Bottle

I used to drink this in college and always believed this to be just a cheap bottom shelf Vodka and as I aged I drank less Vodka and more Bourbon and other whiskeys and now I have made my way back to Smirnoff. It is not as bad as I remember but I do like Ketel One and Sobieski better. This is smooth enough to drink on the rock but neat it needs to be very cold. I mainly use vodkas to mix with other things and with Smirnoff I make Vodka Martinis and Vesper Martinis with Sutler's Gin and Cocchi Americano Bianco. And for that Smirnoff is perfectly fine. I do not look to any vodka for deep flavors and lingering tastes. That is what the whiskey family is for. This is a solid addition to my bar and it is at a very good price. Enjoy.12.0 USD per Bottle

Scapegrace Gold Navy Strength Gin
Navy-Strength Gin — New Zealand
Reviewed March 20, 2020 (edited March 26, 2020)This is an outstanding Gin. It has a wonderful citrus blend and the juniper and other spices really round out the taste of it. Now the liquid inside a beautiful bottle is HOT. I know it is a "Navy Strength" gin but wow my first drink was a hot one. That is not to say it was bad but I do not drink much high proof gin so it was strong. When I made my Gin and Tonic this stuff was amazing the citrus notes moved to the front and it was almost like a different drink. When I made a martini with it I found that it needed a full measure of vermouth. I usually use a half measure but the flavor was just wrong. When I used a full measure of Noilly Prat extra dry vermouth it was the best martini I have ever tasted. I highly recommend this Gin but it is not cheap if you like Gin especially more citrus blends then this one will be a winner. Updated information my local store now carries this regularly so it is now my High-End fancy gin for the holidays. Have a Merry Christmas everyone.50.0 USD per Bottle -
Thirteenth colony sour mash bourbon whiskey
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed March 19, 2020 (edited May 13, 2024)I am finally able to review the very solid full-flavored Bourbon. This is not one of the subtle complex bourbons on the market it is an in your face I dare you to take another sip bourbon. That is not to say it is bad it is very good but it is strong. The nose is sweet vanilla and a light spice that goes into the body where the full flavor explodes onto your palate. I tasted a sweetness like brown sugar or caramel and some of the heat from the alcohol but it is ok it is expected. I went to the web site and it says it is a "wheated" bourbon and it is not like any wheater I have ever had but it is not a bad thing. The Bourbon makes an outstanding Old Fashioned as the flavor really compliments the bitters and orange peel in my OF. Is this the best bourbon for the price no it is not. Is it a very solid that shows that not all wheated bourbons are smooth sippers yes it does. I believe that it would be interesting if it were in the barrel for a few more years but this is very good "I had a rough day and I need a drink of something to make me get over it". This is your drink. It is not easy to find and it runs around $40 a bottle but it is worth trying in my humble opinion. Enjoy. Over the Memorial Day weekend, this won a blind taste test between Russell Reserve, Very Old Barton BiB, and Henry McKenna BiB. I upped the score. This is a very good bold bourbon.40.0 USD per Bottle -
I had this at my Dad's house before Thanksgiving and enjoyed it but I was on a Scotch and Colonel EH Taylor Small Batch tasting expedition. Now just before Christmas, I had a chance to revisit Sexton and I really enjoyed it. It reminds me of Bushmills Red Bush Irish Whiskey in that it is fruity and smooth. I had it neat and it was a solid sipping whiskey, but I really enjoyed it with some ice as it mellowed the flavors. I will say that the bottle is very cool but it is what is inside that will keep me buying this more than once. In my area, it is about $23 a bottle so it is an easy yes for me. I will try this in drinks when I get my next bottle. Enjoy and Merry Christmas everyone.23.0 USD per Bottle

Crown Royal Regal Apple
Flavored Whiskey — Manitoba, Canada
Reviewed March 19, 2020 (edited October 24, 2020)During this holiday season, I have had the wonderful opportunity to try several different things and Crown Royal Apple is one of the more divisive liquids in the group. My dad and a few others did not like it at all. While I and some others liked it but it is easy to drink too much of this and be done with it. Now when I first drank this neat it was very nice with the apple flavor mixing well with the whiskey and when ice is added it made the drink even better. I have not mixed this with anything but I have read and heard from friends that it does mix very well and the sweetness is reduced a great deal. I do not like this as much as the Birddog Peach but this is a nice flavored whiskey and by the time I finished drinking a few drinks of this I was not enjoying the sweetness if you know someone that likes apple-flavored things they will most likely enjoy this. Enjoy.24.0 USD per Bottle -
Whistlepig 10 Year Small Batch Rye
Rye — (bottled in) Vermont, Canada
Reviewed March 19, 2020 (edited July 14, 2020)Happy New Year everyone. I had a chance this wonderful Rye whiskey yesterday and it is wonderful. The flavor is spicey and big. When I first sipped this neat it filled my mouth with spices like nutmeg or allspice and some sweetness with ice it mellows and I tasted some woodiness and caramel. This is a 100 proof spirit and even at that strength it is not super hot but I knew I was drinking a strong spirit. The only real criticisms I have are that it is expensive and it is hard to find consistently in my area. I wish I could taste all of the flavors that Ctrexman and Chumppunk could taste but this is still an outstanding Rye and I am glad I tasted it.75.0 USD per Bottle -
What an amazing budget bottle of Canadian whiskey. I opened this with my dad over the weekend and what a wonderful smooth sipping whiskey this is. To me, this is what Crown Royal wants to be. A very smooth full-flavored whiskey that has a clean crisp taste and a pleasantly warm feel as it leaves my mouth. It has soft vanilla and sweet nose and it mixes very well with everything I have tried so far like coke and ginger ale. At $10 to $12 buck in my area, I have no issue with mixing this but it is smooth enough to drink neat or with ice. Well done Canada. This is the only Canadian whiskey I have at the moment but when I am done looking for a few specific Irish whiskeys I will take a hard look at our whiskey brothers to the north and see what they are really about. If anyone has suggestions I am open to them. As far as Rich and Rare Reserve is concerned it is a no brainer it is smooth neat and you can mix it and not be upset about it. It is a keeper.12.0 USD per Bottle
