Had px as reference spirit then tried this for 2nd time. Nose is great w/ sherry/ wine notes. But on the palate a terrible off note of not very sweet butterscotch drowns out those notes. Perhaps at cask strength it would be better tasting. This is diluted to 40%

Drank px as reference spirit then tried this for the second time. Garbage. Dry and poorly integrated sherry/whisky notes. Weak sherry influence at that, just in the background. Only saving grace is this young whisky doesn’t taste very young with the usual unpleasant malty notes. Very overpriced, too mediocre to drink again.

This is great but there’s a subtle off note of young barley. If memory serves, ardbeg black 46% doesn’t have any off notes. I should conpare to my port Charlotte samples (islay and olc) to see if i detect that off note.

Had mezcal n tequila as reference liquors. Second tasting, again unimpressed. Very strong lemon note cutting through.

Drank mezcal n tequila as reference liquors. Second taste of this. Quite pleasant. Not malty at all. Sediment, pleasant bitterness, coupled with subdued bourbon cask notes, vanilla, pear and the like.

Take that back. This is less harsh than hedonism perhaps due to its age. I like it better than hedonism. Don’t have any hedonism left to compare head to head

Drank mezcal and tequila as reference liquors then tried this again. Confirming my first impression which was this is a vanilla bomb indistinguishable from compass box hedonism. Hedonism is available everywhere so why try to hunt this down?

Really just taste the sherry notes. It’s not bad but comparable if not inferior in taste to laphroaig 10 sherry and kilchoman sanaig which are much easier to get than this bottle which i would need to get mailed from overseas

Not bad but not nearly as tasty as the standard 10 yr. faintly detected that auchentoshan off note as well.
