I was very surprised with this one. I thought it would be much like a high corn Bourbon, but it was different. On the nose I got a tutti-fruity bubblegum aroma with cinnamon roll. It’s like going back to your childhood moments having a cinnamon roll for breakfast and then chewing a bubblegum. On the palate that cinnamon roll gets some almond nuts on top and the finish is a dry walnut. That was quite an experience. I stand corrected. I never thought a single grain whisky could be as good as a single malt. Oh, but was I wrong! Slainte Mha!

Egan’s Conviction 10 definitely shows it’s more mature. It’s more viscous and oily with a great nose. And there I got ginger ale first and then peach and a hint of pear. On the palate ginger ale combined with peach, like a peach cobbler dessert with ginger ale. It’s a grear dram and I enjoyed it a lot!

Bushmill Prohibition Recipe paying tribute to Peaky Blinders. That’s very interesting. It’s actually very good! It feels young, but it’s very pleasant! On the nose I immediately sense lemongrass, cinnamon and honey. After a while there’s a hint of green apple. The palate has more of lemon, orange peel and honey. It’s very fresh and it brings a bit of cereal towards the end. Very enjoyable! Slainte Mha!

Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed March 8, 2025 (edited March 14, 2025)After watching their documentary “Water of Life”, I had to buy some of their bottles. This is their flag ship one that resonates a lot with the ladies. Although I see many experts saying they nose apple on this one, to me is a delicate caramel on an english biscuit, some orange peel, breakfast cereal with honey. Or maybe even an orange cake. Its very good on the nose. On the palate is a bit underwhelming. It gets in a bit spicy with some heat. It becomes more citric, with ginger with a short finish. Orange prevails more in the end. Overall, good bank for the buck. Slainte!53.99 USD per Bottle -
There’s a lot of praise to this bottle from whisky enthusiasts now. It might have driven prices up as im paying $63+ on this one. On the nose, apple and honeydew are very present woth sushi ginger combined and hints of vanilla on the background. The palate is a bit more citric with ginger and green apple. It doesn’t have a long finish, but its not dry as well. It’s a pleasant one for warmer days. Fresh and tasty. Slainte!63.99 USD per Bottle

Craigellachie 13 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed February 28, 2025 (edited March 3, 2025)I was anxious about this one after hearing so much about it. So many flavors in such an affordable bottle bringing 46% ABV with natural colors and non chilled filtered scotch. What else do we need in a whisky? At first on the nose I got mild hints of sulphur to be overpowered by caramel, apple and honey. That apple diped eith caramel bite is what i sense here. The palate brings that gingery, spice feeling together with the sweet apple. Then the finish takes you to the Spanish Sherry wines with a walnut finish. It’s very unique to have a finish that is so similar to a sherry wine. The walnut finish is very distinct and pleasant. Very good scotch that I recommend to anyone! Slainte Mha!52.0 USD per Bottle -
I finally found a bottle of a Campbeltown to buy. Traveling to St. Paul, MN and i get into this small Licour Shop and there it was. Got this bottle for $55 and was happy! At first it was underwhelming, then i give it a little time and it hit me! Such a great dram! On the nose I got this great butterscotch, salted caramel at first. Then it becomes briny, like i just smelled a beef stock. But the salted caramel is strong. On the palate is oily, buttery and very well balanced. It got a hint of spices and peppers, its sweet with caramel, it brings berries, dry fruits, ginger and citrus notes. Very complex and complete set of tastes and experiences. I thought this one was going to be a good one, but its actually an amazing one! Slainte mha!

Interesting that it’s my first time tasting and out of ignorance, I always thought this was a Tennessee whiskey. I was just fooled by the name. The funny thing is that after sipping I still thought it was a whiskey. It’s a sweet vanilla and honey mix with ginger, which lingers more towards the end. But then i realized it’s too sweet in the end with some zesty citric notes. It’s a little flat with less complexity, so it could be a good mix for other drinks. There’s a refreshing finish that seems like minty feeling. Cheers!

I went to visit Heaven Hills and was intrigued by this bottle although I had not had the chance to taste it before. But since you can only buy it there, I figured it should be worth it. The color is an amber/copperish color with thick legs and medium body. It feels like medium body in the palate as well, but not too old. On the nose is very sweet at first. Notes of vanilla, mapple syrup and sweet cream are strong. Corn, grain and cereal are present as well. The second prevalent is spices. Nutmeg and black pepper are there and some hints of cloves. There’s also pine wood aroma and a small hint of apple pie. The palate comes stronger on spices, like cinnamon, pepper and more pine wood. You get less of the sweetness, but still creamy vanilla and more toasted corn. Overall is a good dram and I don’t regret buying it. Slainte Mhath!

Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 11, 2025 (edited January 18, 2025)I tasted this one at a party. A friend of mine offered to open and it was a very sweet experience. The nose is rich in vanilla, caramel, hints of apple that i could gather and maybe cherry. I didn’t have a proper glass for the nose. On the palate, its very rich and creamy with vanilla, caramel and there’s a little of a spice note there like a sweet anise, but it’s so sweet that i couldn’t figure out what the other tastes were. Overall, for a low rye mash, it delivers the sweetness and it’s not too hot. But it misses more complex variety of flavors. Cheers!
