Its been a while I have this bottle. I don’t drink rum often, but wanted to give it another sip to compare. Rum, like cachaça and tequila are one-sided taste. You will get too much of whats made off of. Alrhough this bottle claims to blend rums aged anywhere from 6 to 24 years, the flavor is very concentraded in molasses. On the nose, there’s some bourbon hints, maybe pine tree and also grass. Very concentrated smell of sugar cane and molasses with vanilla. The palate also concentrates in molasses, honey and sugar cane with hints of wood chips, pine, which is coming from the Bourbon cask aging. It says there’s a lot of sherry aging as well, but I didn’t get much of the nuts or fruits that would come from it. Molasses and caramel overpowers a bit.

First try of this famous Benromach 15yo and that’s exactly why I love single malts. That’s the experience that i love from start to finish. You look at this scotch and it’s a beautiful dark amber color, almost copper with thick legs and so dense. Beautiful on the nose. First aromas are full of toffee. Then it seemed to me there are hints of olive oil mixed with bread and sweet cream. Seems a little like a salty caramel on a slice of sweet bread. So good! On the palate you’ll get the smokyness and peatyness, but not strong. Very gentle combined with toffee and then orange peels. After some time, the aroma brought the orange peel preserve that i tasted. Overall, extremely elegant, sophisticated, balanced and complex. Very good! Cheers!99.0 USD per Bottle

Tequila Reserva de la Familia Platino Organico
Tequila Blanco — Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed November 15, 2024Reserva de la Familia Platino is definetely very smooth and pleasant tequila. It will not burn, it will go down very softly and bring only flavors. On the nose, its very citrusy with lime, sicilian lemon peels and grapefruit combined with agave sugars. On the palate, its very smooth bringing the lime and lemon with some herbal notes. There’s a long finish to this one with some wet pine woods. Very pleasant drinking! Cheers! -
1845 Preemption Texas Four Grain Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Bourbon — Texas, USA
Reviewed November 14, 2024Very good Texas Bourbon. The bottle is amazing. So beautiful inside and out. Seems lime they had a license to distill back when Texas was an independent republic. So cool! On the nose, first thing to notice is sweet grain, corn and vanilla. After some time, honey came in very strong. On the palate, it’s a sweet vanilla first and then rye comes very strong with herbal, eucaliptos and foresty flavors. I just had a small sip and I was surprised. Good value for the experience! -
I am pleasantly surprised with this one. Fairly unexpensive with plenty of flavors. This Caribbean Reserve seems to have used caribbean unused barrels rather than rum used barrels. At first, I had citrus, orange on the nose with a very sweet note of honey. After that I got honeydew, melon and lemon. On the palate, it was more citrusy and sweet. I added some drops of water and the melon became more present with pear in the nose and a hint of toffee. The palate became like a fruit dessert. Like a melon, pear, orangy tart. Cream, caramelly with melon. Surprisingly good! Cheers!41.9 USD per Bottle

I.W. Harper Cabernet Cask Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 7, 2024 (edited November 9, 2024)I had this Bourbon at the beautiful distillery Stitzel-Weller. It’s a medium body Kentucky Bourbon with medium sized legs and a light amber color. At first i sensed caramel and toffee on the nose. Waited for some time and it opened to get more woody and spicy. I got wet pine wood, wood chips mixed with mint, dill, pepper and lime. The palate is more narrowed to lime, orange with pine wood and nutmeg with some smoke. After having it neat, i poured some drops of water which brought more orange notes to the nose and a longer finish with vanilla, but very subtle. Overall a good Bourbon without the traditional Kentucky hug, but not too much from the Cabernet Sauvignon finish.Stitzel-Weller Distillery -
A unaged Mezcal with a very subtle amount of smokyness. Its there, but mildly. The spirit is light, delicate and I couldn’t feel the aromas experts might have. It has a feeling of a sugar cane distilled rather than an agave one. It’s very citric, leaning heavily towards lime and lemon. Some light honey as well. On the palate, you’ll get the light smoke, but still the honey and like are prevalent and a bit herbal, maybe with some mint with it. As unaged, crystal clear spirit, it’s well rounded, smooth, lightly smoky and pleasant. No bite, mild heat with a good finish. Not extremely flavorful, but pleasant for a sip. Might be better for a cocktail. Cheers!

Dalmore has some of my favorite whiskys. The 12yr is an easy to drink dram that will delight any first time drinker. Its a 40% ABV that might be low for many of us, but still flavorful. On the nose is very citrusy, sicilian lemon and orange at first. Then we get some honey, sugar notes and a hint of cereal. On the palate its like a good orange peel preserve or a candied crystalized orange. The mix of honey and orange flavors is like eating a orange dessert. Great dram! Cheers!64.0 USD per Bottle

After a tasting tour at Garrison Brothers, I was very surprised with the quality of their Bourbon. All of their whiskys are very good! But this one finished at a Port cask is incredible! The 2024 release delivered 10500 bottles and mine is #4289. It come with a dark amber color, very thick legs in a full body and 107 proof. On the nose, we immediately get toffee, caramel, milk chocolate and a hint of cherry. The palate brings more of the wheat and malted barley to play with a french toast feeling bringing a bread toast mixed with caramel and clove together. The caramel and toffee overpowers a little. In the end, there’s a cinnamon and nutmeg finish, so the spices kick in. Very complex, delicious and very rich! Worth every penny!149.9 USD per Bottle
