Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 28, 2018 (edited March 14, 2018)Notes for Elijah Craig Small Batch: Amber in color. A Light bodied whiskey with a somewhat oily mouthfeel. Nose: Apple and vanilla with mild hints of oak. Palate: light crisp apple flavor and soft vanilla appear first. Some oak and spice appear in the middle. Finish is quick, crisp, and touch hot with lingering oak, spice, and vanilla. Pleasant and inoffensive. This whiskey is a great value for the price hence 4/5 stars. If it were pricier I would probably rate it lower. -
Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof Tennessee Whiskey

Soft baking spices are present as well. Very minimal ethanol despite the 131.9 Proof. Palate: sweet caramel and oak lead the way. The oakiness intensified in the middle, but so does the sweetness joined by subtle spice and fruitiness. A hot and dry finish full of rich flavor. Spiciness and hints of apple sweetness tingle the mouth afterwards. Phenomenal Barrel Proof whiskey! -

Palate: a bit hot out of the gate with crisp apple, vanilla, and honey. The whiskey heats up in the middle with strong oakiness leading to a dry spicy finish. Surprisingly intense for 98.6 Proof, relative to other whiskies I’ve tried over 100 Proof. It took a few sips to really discover any flavors. -

Talisker Distillers Edition
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed December 31, 2017 (edited December 3, 2018)Nose: sherry, camp smoke, sea salt, pepper, orange and honey. Palate: Sherry sweetness followed by orange and sea salt. The whisky heats up with pepper and smokiness. Finish is shorter than I expected, but still satisfying to the last. Honey and orange sweetness linger after the smoke and pepper vanish. Sherry influence is also left on the palate. Color is darker honey, whisky has a heavier body, though it seems to lighten a bit on the tongue.
