Doing a flight of Blanton's, Noah's Mill, and Willett Pot Still Reserve at Trifecta on 3rd in Austin. All 3 have a similar color. Noses: the Noah's Mill has the softest nose of the 3. Spice predominant across them, with the Blanton's having more apple notes. Willett has more spice notes than the others. Willett: Spice theme continues. Sharp and full. Pepper notes. A lot of activity down the centerline of my tongue. I'm trying to name what I'm talking but am at a loss for words. It's a more narrow flavor profile than the Blanton's. More similar to the Noah's Mill, which dances the sides of my tongue and the back roof of my mouth. The Willett is almost a dash of spearmint right up front. None of these are overly oaky or smokey. Good neat sippers.Trifecta on 3rd

Bernheim 7 Year Original Wheat Whiskey
Wheat Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 20, 2019 (edited May 19, 2019)Tasted as part of a flight of Devils River, Breakers Bourbon, Elijah Craig Small Batch, and Bernheim Wheat Whiskey. Nose: Had to go deep to get a good nose on this one. Slight caramel and vanilla notes. 2nd nose similar - had to go deep to get anything. Tasting: Actually better than I was prepared for with the nose. Ranks at top of the 4, with the Elijah Craig small batch. Smooth, full, with a decent finish, but not overly long. Good wheated bourbon profile, easy to enjoy neat. Slightly oily in mouth. I would add this one to my collection.Eureka! -
Breaker Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in California), USA
Reviewed February 20, 2019 (edited February 29, 2020)Tasted as part of a flight of Devils River, Breakers Bourbon, Elijah Craig Small Batch, and Bernheim Wheat Whiskey. Nose: Sweeter nose. Trying to place it. Not quite honey, but not butterscotch, or caramel. Well actually, I'd have to say vanilla. Wow. On 2nd nose after tasting the Elijah Craig this smells like bubble gum. Fruity sweetness. Deeper color than the Devils River, but not as dark as the Elijah Craig or Bernhelm. Tasting: Thin and sweet. It's a light flavor profile without finish. Maybe they should carbonate and sell as Red Pop.Eureka! -
Tasted as part of a flight of Devils River, Breakers Bourbon, Elijah Craig Small Batch, and Bernheim Wheat Whiskey. Nose: Popcorn and toasted oak. Fair, no burn, and not overly complex. Seems approachable and young. Tasting: Young tasting. Still heavy on popcorn like a white dog. Much more forward on the tongue. Nothing unpleasant, but nothing to write home about. Perhaps a decent entry point for new bourbon drinkers. Wouldn't buy a bottle for my collection.Eureka!
