Highland Park 12 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed September 20, 2020 (edited March 19, 2021)Nose is of malty, almost umami-like flavors. Taste completely opens up to a bright bouquet of spring flowers, fresh hay, and a white peach candy-like sweetness. Interesting! -
Château de Laubade Intemporel Hors d'Âge Bas-Armagnac
Armagnac — Bas-Armagnac, France
Reviewed September 19, 2020I actually had the Intemporel No. 5 which is supposedly made of brandies aged 20-30 years. Whatever. Nose evolves quite a lot, starts off with big toasty sugar flavors almost reminiscent of a full bodied rum. Then goes into baked pears and more bright apple candy flavors. Taste took me be surprise, was not nearly as sweet as I expected it to be. A touch dry with all the wood tannins, reminiscent of some sweet tobacco leaf with an apple-y and grape candy backing. It feels more like an aged calvados than a grape-based brandy. Pretty great.135.0 USD per Bottle -
Ranger Creek Rimfire Mesquite Smoked Texas Single Malt
American Single Malt — Texas, USA
Reviewed August 23, 2020Smells like a Texas BBQ over mesquite smoke. Not a whole lotta sugar in it, but the smoke itself tastes quite sweet. A bit more smooth and rounded than the Andalusia Stryker.
