Really light, pretty scotch, needs water to open up which reveals a core of ginger, apples, marmalade, and slight vanilla and floral tones. Palate has a nice minerality and almost acidic, yet rich texture, with notes of ripe pear, clove, citrus, ginger, lanolin, and some light floral notes, leading to a long finish with poached pear and spices. Amazing scotch, perfect substitute for when i cant find Arran 10.95.0 CAD per BottleNewfoundland Labrador Liquor Corporation

Highland Park 12 Year Viking Honour
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed February 13, 2026 (edited June 20, 2026)Really nice nose of honey, apricot, sweet vanilla, and citrus, not even hinting at peat presence here. Palate is more forward woth notes of lanolin, a slight salinity, more of a citrus twang, sweet dried fruit and heathery, ashy peat. Very pleasant, not overly peat heavy but lovely complexity and balance. Reminiscent of arran 10 or hibiki harmony less the mizunara element.90.0 CAD per BottleNLC Liquor Store - Howley Estates -
HINE Rare Fine Champagne Cognac
Cognac — Cognac, France
Reviewed January 11, 2026 (edited February 24, 2026)Rich nose with notes of pear, cinnamon, cocoa powder, marlmalade, and vanilla, sweet yet elegant and refined. Palate is sweet with a ncie light acidity, very smooth and well-balanced. Palate exudes rich fruit and oaky tones, with a medium finish carrying notes of perfumed fruit, plum, toffee, and a slight oak bitterness. Very enjoyable cognac.110.0 CAD per BottleBishop's Cellar -
Nose is fairly sweet with heavy bourbon influences, notea of vanilla, peat smoke, caramel, olive brine, and light fruitiness. Palate exudes bourbon fruitiness with notes of ripe pear, pineapple, and further caramel with a bild accent of char and smoke, with slight ashy bitterness. Finish is medium length with notes of grilled pineapple and stone fruit with an ash/iodine bitterness. Very nice but bottle takes a good while to open up, decent complexity and flavour for the price.

My introduction to ardbeg 12 was electrical fire. This is electrical fire with a cherry on top. Nose exudes ash, cherry, light vanilla, and ny favorite descriptor “dentist’s office”. Sweet palate, rich and complex with further ashy, leaning on peppery peat notes which echo out with menthol, leather, and charcoal in a long finish which is fun but does not feel healthy. I’m a fan.

Very sweet nose with notes of marzipan, raisin, cherries, and a good touch of vanilla but not too intense on the latter. Good but not a ton of complexity, bourbon outweighing sherry just slightly. Sweet. At first, a slight almost metallic acidity similar to Arran, which leads into a sherried tobacco-leather note, followed by peachy and cherry bourbon notes with powdered sugar sweetness, a slight marmalade note. Need water to open it up - like sweet gasoline without water. Nice sweet finish but not terribly complex. Good, nice intensity and expression but lacking the sherry complexity I would like. Overall not completely worth price but alright scotch. I do like the flavour though, absolutely not bad.

Glendalough Pot Still Irish Oak Finish
Single Pot Still — Ireland
Reviewed January 2, 2022 (edited February 6, 2022)Love it. Very citrusy and honeyed with some spice notes, a big departure from regular Irish whiskey. Still great, awesome finish and despite simplicity it is very well crafted. This one grows on you, as you adjust to how agressive the first few sips can be. -
