Teeling Small Batch Irish Whiskey
Blended — Ireland
Reviewed February 13, 2017 (edited November 9, 2022)A very soft and particularly light blended whiskey which, at 46% ABV, has some slight heat in the finish. On the nose, this whiskey is a little lacklustre with very subtle notes of vanilla milkshake. The rum ageing comes through on the palate with vanilla spices, coconut and some oak influence. A good quality blend. -
Tyrconnell 10 Year Madeira Cask Finish
Single Malt — Ireland
Reviewed February 13, 2017 (edited March 17, 2017)A slick, smooth mouthfeel while the whiskey itself is rich and well balanced. On the palate, the Madeira cask finish lends tropical fruit flavours, sweet spice, chocolate praline and malt. This is an outstanding ten-year-old single malt. -
Nose: Initially quite strong in alcohol, but as that subsides it gives way to sweet ripened berries. Light notes of toasted oak and vanilla come to the fore the longer it is allowed to breathe. Palate: Initial sweetness and slight spices notes that give way to milk chocolate and strawberry liqueur. A quick alcohol burn opens up to an opulent and complex dessert sweetness owed mostly to the PX cask finish. Finish: Long and sweet, the berry sweetness lingers on the tongue, with the light mouthfeel of the liquid itself giving way to a delicate end.
