Tastes

I can't quite ignore the fact that MGP has a finger in this pie. High West's Double Rye is totally pleasant and tastes good neat. Like Bulleit, this is balanced so as to please crowds and not diverge too wildly from what we're coming to expect from "straight rye," and so this tastes good without wowing.

This is a really refined, super smooth rye. Shortbread and biscuit touches down before anise and pepper take over. Believe the hype.

Not terrible; maybe a little less refined than Bulleit. Strong alcohol presence up front with the usual notes of rye spice following behind.

This has me ensorceled. Sweet vanilla and spicy rye—I'll have this again.

Delicate mouthfeel. Lots of vanilla, giving way to nice white pepper and anise spiciness. Worth an extra couple bucks.

Interesting combination of peppermint and leather dominates before surrendering to anise and honey. Very smooth, very drinkable.

Nice honey flavor coming through here -- don't be afraid of the price, there's good stuff in here.

Woody up front, with vanilla and raisin following. There's rye spice on the back-end, but you have to be patient; an interesting, enjoyable rye.

There's an off-flavor - like soap, or nail polish - dominating here. The finish has the familiar rye spiciness, but the overall taste misses for me.
