Tastes

I really enjoyed this one. A bit sweeter than most scotches, but as a Bourbon drinker that fine with me. Not over done. Almond, slight mint, with toasty cereal notes. Chocolate, cocoa notes emerge with water. And then vanilla. Did remind me a touch of Bourbon notes. I'd go back here again.

Rather muted and overly subtle in my opinion. Only a slight Aroma with a whiff of oak and a bit of fruit. Flavor is light oak, vanilla and pepper. No finish to speak of.

My second in the Auchentoshan Family. I like the nutty, winter spiced nature of their scotch. Some clove, lots of cinnamon and other warning spices. As mentioned very nutty as well with both oak and very light vanilla at the end.

Delicate and nice. Was struck by the cereal notes with a touch of sweetness. Frosted Flakes went through my mind quickly. Then notes of honey. Drops of water bring forward more fruity notes. Where some really benefit from water, I didn't think it added here. Just enjoy as served from the bottle.

Who is quickly becoming my favorite bartender provided a sample of this. Hadn't planned on having a Bourbon tonight, but I enjoyed the taste so much that I ordered a glass. Was a perfect after dinner Bourbon. Brown sugar and Maple in both flavor and Aroma.. With a nutty flavor as well. I did see another review (while tasting sample) mention French Toast. Yeah, I get it. Definitely a good amount of spice from Rye and nice black pepper notes. Would never guess it's 100 proof as it's silky smooth. Two drops of water accentuate the spice, which is nice here. Will definitely have this again.

Aroma was of vanilla extract and brown sugar. Later determined this was the best aspect of the Bourbon. Flavor reminds me of the slightly funky flavor of Willett Pot Still. Quite spicy with the funk mentioned. Lots of black pepper. Finish basically falls off cliff, which is slightly disappointing.

Wow, really good! A barrel pick at South City Kitchen. Was so surprised and pleased. Wonderful depth and silky smooth for a Cask strength. Vanilla to start, some rounded spice to finish. Try it!

Aroma is of cedar, honey and a touch of over ripe banana. Lots of grain as well. Flavor is spicy with Anise, clove, black pepper and more cedar. Almost a minty aftertaste. Finish is like a mint gum once most of the flavor has vanished.

Aroma is sweet candy and almonds. Really changed as it opens. Some tropical fruit notes and dark brown sugar that later was more caramel like. Dark chocolate and even a moment of coconut. The heat is very present.. Toasted oak, especially in the finish... Keep thinking about Mounds candy bar. Finish becomes more spicy as it continues to open.
