Hancock's President's Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 17, 2022 (edited October 19, 2022)Aroma was bold and really nice. Coconut, vanilla and even almonds. As it opens a touch of cinnamon. Flavor is creamy vanilla. A touch of toasted grain. Few drops of water kills the Aroma and brings out a touch more spice. Not sure I'd add water again here. (starting at 89 proof so makes sense) Later in the glass the almond returns in the palate. Finish is mostly just lingering bitterness -
Yes, sweet. Pretty good. More butterscotch to me than peanut butter. Glad I tried it. If you're reading this.... Trust me. Take a bottle of Rittenhouse Rye and put in a 16oz bottle of unsalted peanuts that you've roasted in the oven. Let sit for 24 hours, then filter through paper coffee filter. So amazing

It's good. Real good. What remains constant is that the Antique 107 is my favorite of the Weller line. This is vanilla, coconut and Creamy to me. Just seems to lack the finish of the 107. Falls off quicker than I would hope. A few drops of water add a touch of spice in the front. But do nothing for the finish.

Wow, lots of cinnamon and peanut brittle on both the nose and palate. Some Orange notes as well. A hint of the high Rye in the Aroma with lots of spice notes. Flavor is fireball cinnamon with the peanut brittle as mentioned. Oily on the tongue and the spice leads to a warming Kentucky Hug. Does not hide the 114 proof. Omg! Three drops of water makes the heat and spice explode. This reveals the 114 proof even more. Frankly I would not add water here. Glad I have the bottle and I'll probably use mostly in Old Fashioned cocktails.
