Laphroaig 10 Year Cask Strength (Batch 1)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed December 16, 2018 (edited January 9, 2019)Batch 009, 58.1% ABV. This is your classic Laph 10 on steroids, fantastic dram and by far the best value out there (IMO!). Lovely see breeze when you nose the glass, very oily as well. Like smoked mackerel. On the palate you have that Laphroaig brine which I really love, very unique. The arrival is sweet with a very long and lingering peaty finish. The perfect winter dram. cheers all72.0 USD per BottleMontreal -
Highland Park 12 Year Viking Honour
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed December 13, 2018 (edited September 21, 2019)Final dram from my bottle, really enjoyed it. This would be my first dram of the night on multiple occasions. After I could go for peat or sherry, just perfect. It's versatile and accessible but at the same time complex. Vanilla, orange, a hint of black licorice, light peat. This has been a great daily sipper, cheers all!70.0 CAD per BottleMontreal -
Lot No. 40 11 Year Cask Strength
Canadian — Ontario, Canada
Reviewed December 12, 2018 (edited December 21, 2018)Missed out on the Lot 40 year cask strength last, very happy I got my hands on a bottle this year. Bottle 3668 of 4020. Oak and spices on the nose, a big hit of black licorise on the palate followed by a long peppery and slightly bitter finish. It's very smooth for 58.4% ABV, no alcohol burn at all. Fantastic Canadian whisky, by far the best I've tried. Maybe I should pick up another bottle while I still have the chance! Cheers95.0 CAD per BottleMontreal -
Port Charlotte 10 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed December 7, 2018 (edited March 11, 2019)This one checks all my boxes. 10 years old, 50% ABV, non chillfiltered and no added colour. This is how you present a whisky! By far the most oily Scotch I've had, sticking to the glass like paint. On the nose I get peat, not medicinal but more mineral, and a whiff of the ocean. The palate has some black pepper, sea salt, sweet caramelized bacon and smoke. I get salty licorice on the finish and again the peppery note, it's medium long. Overall this is a great addition to the Bruichladdich core range, the bottle and packaging are on point as for all of their products. Cheers all!!99.0 CAD per BottleMontreal -
Glenlivet Nàdurra Peated Whisky Cask Finish
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 2, 2018 (edited September 10, 2020)Wow this is good! Perfect dram for a cold, rainy and windy day like it was over here today in Montreal. Very oily Scotch coating my glencairn. On the nose I don't get a lot, some honey and alcohol. This one shines on the palate and finish. Honey, tart green apples and sea salt on the palate. The peat influence shows up on the finish, it's very subtle and lingering for quite some time together with some salt. Very glad I picked this one up today, I will get the first fill Nadurra as well sooner or later. Cheers all!94.0 CAD per BottleMontreal -
Bunnahabhain 12 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed November 25, 2018 (edited June 13, 2019)whoever gave this a 84 rating here on Distiller needs to do a re-review fast! This is easy a 90 or even more. 46.3 %ABV, non chillfiltered, no added colour, an age statement, great taste. It's a sherried Islay Scotch, full bodied, dark fruits, salted caramel, a nice lingering finish. 4.5 stars no doubt!85.0 CAD per BottleMontreal -
Kilchoman Machir Bay (2014 Edition)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed November 25, 2018 (edited November 26, 2018)My first encounter with Kilchoman distillery has been a great one! I have the 2018 bottling though.Love the whole craft presentation of the whisky itself and the box this malt came in is a stunner as well. The nose is lovely Islay peat but slightly different from the rest. It has a pretty sweet arrival with a little brine which I love. Honey and a pinch of sea salt. The sherry influence is minimal but I suspect this will increase over time like it did for me with Kilkerran 12 and Springbank 10. A medium peaty finish to round it all off. Classy and tasty, cheers all!92.0 CAD per BottleMontreal -
Stagg Jr Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch 1
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 25, 2018 (edited November 26, 2018)Fantastic stuff, this dram is getting better and better everytime I take a glass from my bottle. Very sweet on the palate with baking spices and salted caramel. The finish is the highlight in my opinion, it just keeps on going. Cheers all!85.0 CAD per BottleMontreal -
I'm a real Arran fanboy, love their whisky, the fact they don't add colour to or chillfilter their whisky and they botlle at 46% or higher. I always wondered why this 10 year has such a mediocre rating here, it's fantastic value in my opinion. By adding some water this dram get's a beautiful sweet barley sugar note. I can't talk this one up enough, cheers!58.0 CAD per BottleMontreal

Kilkerran 12 Year
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed November 15, 2018 (edited June 13, 2019)I'm already loving this bottle and I'm only 3 drams in. It has a clean nose, some sea air and citrus. Sea salt, lemon, honey and light peat on the palate. The finish is spectacular though, very complex. First you get the peat followed by dark fruits. I get the sherry cask influence on the finish, not overpowering but just perfectly well balanced. Fabulous stuff from Campbelltown, cheers!85.0 CAD per BottleMontreal
