Zaya Gran Reserva 16
Aged Rum — Trinidad & Tobago
Reviewed September 30, 2019 (edited February 2, 2022)Is that turpentine, I don’t know what it is at the end but this finishes like petroleum slap to the face. Starts out with great notes of vanilla cinnamon and sweetness and then finishes with the dropkick. I dumped mine I wouldn’t wish it on my mixed drink enemies.30.0 USD per Bottle -
Rarely do I buy a bottle without first trying a pour at a local restaurant or bar. However, no one had this that I could find in the area. So I went ahead and did it, and once again it was reinforced - try before you buy. First I screwed off the lid, no cork here, and smelled the disappointment. Don’t get me wrong, it is not bad. It’s more at $60 I expected excellence. All the tasting notes are there but just blah. Unfortunate and an expensive whiskey I will use to mix drinks. I will tell you though, their vodka is amazing.60.0 USD per Bottle

Highland Park 12 Year Viking Honour
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed March 6, 2019 (edited March 21, 2019)Good. Some burn. Not as smooth as expected. Good amount of peat. 55 bucks. I’d rather get the 18 and drink it slower.
