Nose - Classic blantons nose with a huge amount of cherry. A little bit of baking spice, like a cherry pie. A little bit of caramel swirl. Thick vanilla crust. A little bit of oak comes through. Palate - Initially a lot of cherry, vanilla and oak. Then followed by a wave of barrel char and baking spice. Sprinkled with some cinnamon. The mouthfeel is a little thin, but pleasant. Finish - Finish is pretty long for a blantons release, with lingering hints of oak and cherry. The barrel spice still comes through in the finish, but very comfortably. Overall pretty nice!

Blanton's Straight From the Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 9, 2021 (edited July 31, 2022)Nose - Classic buttery blantons smell with a cherry bomb and a fantastic bite from the proof. Theres a lot vanilla custard. Small hints of very sweet ham. Palate - Oooooo that barrel char! Oh boy! The first sip starts with kitchen spice. It rolls into vanilla flavor and ends campfire smoke. Mouthfeel is medium, with the liquid coating the mouth with being overly oily. The feel is more like butter that melts quickly. Theres a little honey. Second sip after opening almost tastes savory, like a grilled steak or ribs. Still sweet, but weirdly tasty. Finish - Finish is pretty long, but not the longest i’ve had. Barrel spice and campfire smoke rolls long, making this a great seasonal bourbon. Very long and warm Kentucky hug. Rolls on like mocha espresso at the end. -
Nashville Barrel Single Barrel Straight Bourbon Barrel #288 (The Fred Minnick Show)
Bourbon — Indiana, USA
Reviewed December 7, 2021Nose - Initial bakery scent, with a candy caramel bite. Some serious cherry but more candy. The overall scent smells like a bakery shop with candy and sugared fruits. Twizzlers really hits that cherry candy scent. There is something addicting about this nose. Palate - Oily mouthfeel, very full body. We start off with some cinnamon and barrel char with a nice transition into a slight little oak. Ends with that same Twizzler like flavor that translates nicely from the nose. Some sourdough bread is there as well. Barrel notes is prominent, but not overbearing. The barrel notes is actually very pleasant. Finish - The finish is super long, can last up to a minute! Its more of that damn cherry which is done nicely. A lot of cinnamon and barrel char accompanies but is again not overbearing, but pairs nicely. Comfortable Kentucky hug. -
Smoke Wagon Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Nevada), USA
Reviewed December 1, 2021 (edited February 7, 2022)Nose -Really pleasant light scent of oak wood and brown sugar. A little bit of a maraschino cherry, a super sweet cherry. Palate - A whole lot of cherry and barrel char. Not a high proof but damn sure feels like it. The toasted oak is really pronounced and offers a complexity most bourbons at this price point don’t have. The oak is covered with cinnamon with only a little tiny bit of vanilla. All complicated by the cherry. Finish - Finish is surprisingly long. All cinnamon and barrel char. -
