Bourbons aren't really my style, however this one, aged for "10 summers", hits those same powerful scotchy notes I'm looking for in a whiskey. Incredibly full bodied and a thick demanding presence. This bourbon grabs your attention as you experience the fruit syrup puree and spicy finish. This seems to be super hard to find. I would like this one for my collection!

Imagine Jameson. Now imagine Jameson with a milk stout bitterness and chocolatey espresso finish. Finally, imagine weather you enjoy this as a standalone product, or as an expansion pack to the original. For me, I wish the proof was higher on this, giving the punch that I would experience with my favorite stout beers.

Monkey Shoulder Blended Malt
Blended Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed November 3, 2015 (edited August 5, 2017)Very simple, light and, inoffensive. I would make this a great starting whiskey for a newbie. You'll get basic vanilla, orangey lemon flavors, and a swift light finish. Heavily promoted in Paris from my travelling experiences! -

Dad's Hat Pennsylvania Rye Whiskey Finished in Port Wine Barrels
Rye — Pennsylvania, USA
Reviewed November 2, 2015An in your face, powerful dram. Youthful burn and classic vanilla caramel flavors. Port finish leaves it some thickness, like syrup. Couldn't relate it to anything I've ever tried. I don't want to knock it for being different, but it just isn't my style. -
Compass Box Great King St Artist's Blend
Blended — Scotland
Reviewed November 2, 2015 (edited August 5, 2017)[Re-Review 01/26/16] Pale as hay. Faint vanilla, salted caramel, and straw on the nose. Very light, sweet silky texture, that goes down easily. Mushy banana purée perhaps? It comes rough right out of the bottle, so it requires a few minutes to sit in order to soften up. Addition of water creates a milky sweetness that could go either way. Moderate lingering finish. Nice burn on the tongue. Comparing it to other blends in it's range I believe it does much better, but it's still nothing too amazing. I would give it a 3.5 if I could.
