Compass Box The Peat Monster (Classic Brown Label)
Blended Malt — Scotland
Reviewed January 25, 2020Well with a name like Peat Monster you get what is advertised. Nose is smokey to a very high degree. However, the first sip is somewhat surprising as it is not as peat heavy as the nose would have you believe. It is definitely still a smokey Scotch, but it is a bit more balanced than many I have tried. Very earthy and a bit medicinal, but has a smooth numbing burn finish. Overall not my style, but one that I could drink again. -
Blood Oath Bourbon Pact No. 5
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 20, 2020 (edited March 10, 2020)Hunted this bottle down after seeing some reviews and comments. Had to go above market for it as I was late to the release party. Nose reveals a mellow sweetness driven likely by the rum finished leg of the three base whiskeys. It is a mild aroma though and overall not overpowering. Taste is smooth. Immediately get hint of pepper from the high ryes in the blend. A bit of vanilla and cola wash over the taste buds as a mild burn starts to build and engulf the other flavors. Interesting build as it seems to approach an intense burn and then drops back of calmly. Overall I really enjoyed this one, but would be happier at state min. At the $150 mark it is a bit over priced.150.0 USD per Bottle -
Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof Tennessee Whiskey
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed January 19, 2020Nose comes across as sweet with honey and caramel notes. First sip takes you back as it brings the full heat of a barrel proof offering. Tastes of vanilla fade away as a strong cinnamon burn takes center stage. Long burn to the sunset. Overall not nearly as special as the JD single barrel rye.55.0 USD per Bottle -
Starting off the nose gives off hints of banana bread. The first sip brings more spice then you would expect from such a high corn mash. It almost drinks like a high rye blend. It definitely brings the heat at 107 Proof and is not a smooth drinker. Overall the flavors bring more nut bread and bran muffin to the table, but it is a bit of a rough ride due to the heavy burn.60.0 USD per Bottle

Caribou Crossing Single Barrel Canadian Whisky
Canadian — Canada
Reviewed January 16, 2020 (edited March 20, 2020)Ok let's be honest. I bought this for the cool caribou topper! Nose is heavy on the alchohol side. Almost offputting to be honest. Taste is better than expected given the nose. Flavor is very subtle and smooth. Malty cinnamon with a hint of candied nuts. Overall a decent sip, but not something I would scour the stores to find.50.0 USD per Bottle -
Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 16, 2020 (edited August 2, 2020)Happened to luck upon this bottle one evening on a Blanton hunt. Obviously this ran me more, but was a great score. Starts with a candied citrus nose that begs you to take a sip. Very smooth taste of honey and vanilla with sinter brown sugar thrown in. This gives way to a smooth cinnamon and nutmeg finish. Trying not too like this too much due to its scarcity, but not succeeding. This is really nice stuff.120.0 USD per Bottle -
There are only 7500 ratings on this so I am sure everyone is dying to hear mine! So without additional fanfare: Nose is sweet. Candy and vanilla. Taste is pretty wonderful. Smooth with vanilla and honey almonds. A medium lasting cinnamon burn chases away the day's worries. Overall I like it. Took me a little while to finally track it down, but IMO it lives up to the hype provided you don't have to overpay for it.70.0 USD per Bottle

First time trying this as I hadn't managed to find a bottle. Had to pay $50 for it, but figured that wasn't too bad based on three hype. Nose starts off fresh baked bread to me. Taste is incredibly smooth. Light cinnamon and nutmeg on the front with a soft rye finish. Low burn, but a lasting one. At $30 list this is 5 star, but since I had to pay almost double I am knocking it down half a point. Still it is fantastic stuff and I would definitely pay $50 to $60 based on other similar Ryes out there. Hype confirmed!50.0 USD per Bottle
