My third scotch and first Islay, and unlike anything else I’ve had thus far. Smoke, bandaids and salami-like meat on the nose. All that carries over to the palate, with the addition of brine, with the salami note somewhat diminished and the smoke, brine and bandaids right up front. I can easily see why some people hate it....but the more I drink it, the more I love it.45.95 USD per Bottle

Earth and citrus on the nose, with a little wet cement. Palate is like slap in the face with sweet lime followed by less intense earth and minerality. Finish is earthy minerality with a hint of smoke. An excellent spirit, easily worth the $50 I paid for it. There’s a funky note (don’t know how else to describe it) present throughout, but not in a bad way. I’d highly recommend this to someone, particularly if you want something sweet but unusual and different.50.0 USD per Bottle

Tequila Gran Dovejo Blanco High Proof
Tequila Blanco — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed April 17, 2019 (edited December 1, 2023)Hot damn! Delicious. Earthy nose with agave and fruity notes and a tiny bit of minerality. Butter explodes on the palate, followed with sweet agave and a hint of almonds. Finish is agave and almond. There’s no burn, but there’s definite heat present throughout. Easily worth the price and I highly recommend.50.0 USD per Bottle -
Still developing my nose and palate with bourbon, so I can’t really pick out much. I can say I smell sweet corn and toasted marshmallow. I can also say there’s a definite vanilla note and bit of spice in the taste. Beyond that it just tastes like a good bourbon. I’ve read a lot of mixed reviews on this, personally I love it.38.0 USD per Bottle

First mezcal I’ve ever tried (not counting tequila if you want to get technical), and honestly this is unlike any other spirit I’ve ever had. Mine is from a May 2017 batch by Joel Barriga. 50.7% ABV. I’ll admit I don’t entirely like the smell, I find it reminiscent of tire rubber, but sharper. Not necessarily bad but far from appetizing. Everything from there is amazing though. Smoke is apparent from the outset. Equally present is a sweetly vegetal taste with notes of rubber band (there’s a note I never thought I’d find in a drink). The smoke stays through the finish, with the vegetal and rubber notes switching places before fading away, the smoke and rubber battling for the upper hand as they linger. I was expecting something similar to tequila, as they’re both agave spirits. This is a whole nother animal, and a beautiful one at that.67.0 USD per Bottle

I like wheat beers so I figured I’d give wheat whiskey a shot (no pun intended). You can definitely smell the wheat element in this. Dark fruity sweet flavor, with a creamy kind of mouthfeel. It’s way different than any other whiskey I’ve had thus far and I didn’t entirely like it all that much when I started this glass, but upon finishing it I’ve decided I like it. A lot.21.99 USD per Bottle
