Suerte Reposado Tequila
Tequila Reposado — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed October 26, 2022 (edited August 5, 2023)Neat. Beautiful golden straw color. Nose is agave, vanilla, slight oak, earth, herbs, with a butterscotch punch coming at the end. Moderate mouthfeel. Taste is agave, oak, vanilla, barrel spice, cinnamon, and black pepper with notable caramel. Finish is sweet, a little bitter with some caramel oak tannins and some pepper bite A solid, no additive sipper at a very reasonable price32.0 USD per Bottle -
Neat. Nose is agave forward with earth, vegetal, black pepper, slight citrus. Taste is true to nose with fruity agave, earth, black pepper, vegetal notes, slight mint toward the finish which is moderate and dry with some sweetness and earth. Not the most complex, but a solid blanco with no additives. Great price for 1L and this quality. Top notch mixer for even simpler cocktails25.0 USD per Bottle

Neat. Pale straw color. Nose is easy with agave with slight oak, spice, pepper, and earth. Taste is heavy, fruity agave, some dusty, smokey oak, vegetal and minerals with slight spice, pepper, and vanilla. Finish is fairly short and dry with some oak tannins Nice honest tequila with no additives. Good flavor at a great price.25.0 USD per Bottle

Neat. Deep copper color. Nose is molasses, stone fruit, wood, vanilla, some baking spices. Taste is sweet with burnt molasses, leather, tobacco, hogo funk, fruitcake, smoke. Finish is long, woody, funky, sweet, and bitter. Interesting sipper, but I can see this shining in cocktails. Would definitely add some nice complexity to many rum drinks25.0 USD per Bottle

Neat. Brassy color and viscous. Aroma is caramel/butterscotch candy, think Werther's Original. Taste is yep, strong caramel/butterscotch, some smoky oak like flavor, black pepper and slight brine. Finish is sucralose sweet with some tannins. Engineered additive bomb! This line is an obvious knockoff of Casamigos, and if that's your jam, then this is a great value substitution. I actually may prefer this slightly as it has more pepper notes for complexity. This was marked down quite a bit, so will give a little bonus for value, but would personally rate lower at full price of $40. If the sweeter aged tequilas like Casamigos and Clase Azul are your jam, then go for this. You'll be happy..especially if on sale The blanco is decent, but an amazing value..so that's a winner. This is a pass for me or for others that enjoy more naturally produced añejos. There are better options in this price range for those that like more balanced and naturally flavored añejos28.0 USD per Bottle

Neat. Brassy golden in color. Nose is very sweet. Deep caramel, vanilla, roasted agave, and oak, some light baking spices, cinnamon, allspice. Taste is true to nose. Richly flavored with caramelized agave, vanilla, smoky oak, allspice, black pepper. Finish is sweet caramel with some spicy pepper and cinnamon for balance Overall, a tequila, on the sweeter side, that a novice would enjoy, while a veteran could appreciate. Drinks more like an añejo than a reposado63.0 USD per Bottle

Tequila Ocho Reposado Las Presas 2018
Tequila Reposado — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed July 23, 2022 (edited August 15, 2022)Neat. Very pale straw color. Aroma is soft. Dusty wood, fruity agave, fruit , slight vanilla, caramel, mint, and spice. Taste is pleasant, sweet ,fruity agave, pepper, light caramel, sweet cinnamon, slight nuttiness, orange zest, oak, leather, cardamom, and vanilla Finishes fairly dry, with sweetness, oak tannins, black pepper, and cadamom65.0 USD per Bottle -
Neat. Crystal clear, coats the glass nicely, long legs. Aroma is heavy cooked sweet agave, some savory vegetal, ripe tropical fruits and flowers, bright citrus, and minerals. Taste is sweet cooked agave, a unique and noticeable floral flavor with some tropical fruit countered with some black pepper and cinnamon spice, and a touch of anise The finish is all about the floral/anise combination. Reigniting as you bring in more air over your tongue. More on the dry/bitter side vs sweet. A unique blanco experience with the floral/anise notes, which could be polarizing. Complex and delicious. Gin fans will appreciate the botanical flavors. I'll pick up another bottle of this vintage next time I'm shopping61.0 USD per Bottle

La Gritona Reposado Tequila
Tequila Reposado — Jalisco , Mexico
Reviewed July 9, 2022 (edited October 26, 2023)Neat. Very nearly clear. slight straw, not really noticeable unless next to a clear liquid. Aroma has some cooked agave, vegetal, black pepper, minerals, slight vanilla and oak if you're looking for it. Taste starts with slightly sweet agave, warming black pepper, vegetal, slight oak/vanilla/cinnamon and a touch of citrus. Finishes dry with that warm black pepper, some sweetness and faint vanilla/oak Overall, a slightly wooded and delicate reposado. Maybe the reposado for blanco lovers. Sipping duty only. The flavors would get overwhelmed in about any mixer and there are cheaper options. Give it some air time before tasting, the wood notes and more delicate flavors get a little overwhelmed with ethanol on a fresh bottle/pour. It got a lot better with rest. Cool bottle, of course. A little pricey, but worth trying if you're a sipper45.0 USD per Bottle
