El Tequileño Blanco Tequila
Tequila Mixto — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed July 23, 2023 (edited November 20, 2023)Neat. Crystal clear. Aroma is lime peel, some agave, pepper, herbs. Taste is mild agave, some sweetness, black pepper, significant earth/minerality. Finish has a little bite with a bitter herbal note Overall, not bad, but this is a mixto so the agave is significantly lighter. Best Mixto that I've had and beats most 100% agave tequilas using diffusers and additives. For the money, I would probably pick Altos as it is a little cheaper than even this mixto and is well made25.0 USD per Bottle -
Enjoying neat. Aroma is rich with agave and earth/minerals along with citrus, black pepper. Taste is sweet agave with notable sweet anise notes along with citrus (lime) and earth. Finish is long and sweet with herbal anise Overall a wonderful old school tequila that is more flavorful than most blancos54.0 USD per Bottle

Neat. Lovely deep copper color. Nose is sweet molasses, minerals, citrus, oak, vanilla, a little hogo. Taste is molasses, some cognac, dried fruits, banana, a little dusty barrel, baking spices, vanilla. Finish is long with molasses and some banana and spice Overall a nice, semi sweet sipper32.0 USD per Bottle

Neat. Beautiful copper color. Nose is sweet.. Strong pineapple and tropical fruits, some oak, citrus, and a little funk and smoke. Taste is true to nose. Sweet with pineapple and dried tropical fruits, but not cloying.. some oak, vanilla and spice. Finish is longish with fruit, oak, and a hint of sweetness. Nice 'flavored' rum for a more mature palette43.0 USD per Bottle

Neat. Straw colored.. oddly lighter than the Reposado. Aroma is light with citrus, fruity agave, hints of charred oak. Taste is clean and fruity. Bright agave dominates, A little bit of charred oak, slight vanilla, black pepper, hints of stone fruits..cherry, plum, lychee and floral notes. Finish is nice. slightly sweet and tart with some fruit notes Overall a very delicious drink. In a blind, I probably would have called it a Reposado based on the look and subdued oak/vanilla profile. The reposado in this line is an entirely different beast.. Much sweeter and heavy with the vanilla that overpowers the agave. I will likely purchase the blanco and anejo in the future. passing over the repo.50.0 USD per Bottle

Neat. Beautiful deep straw color. Aroma is unique. Cooked agave, honey, charred oak, floral, banana and vanilla. Taste is very sweet. Heavy caramelized agave, honey, vanilla dominate with some oak, pepper, floral, and hints of baking spices. Finish is sweet and a little tart with vanilla and oak. Too sweet and vanilla for my taste, but plenty of people love that..45.0 USD per Bottle

Neat. Crystal Clear, coats the glass nicely. Aroma mostly of cooked agave and citrus with a supporting vegetal/bell pepper and mineral notes. Taste is cooked agave with a heavy dose of citrus peel. There are other notes adding complexity.. black pepper, slightly funky vegetal, hints of green olives, floral.. Give it time.. it opens up and there is a lot of explore. Finish builds up over several sips and is slightly sweet with black pepper and the olive notes. Overall it is very good and unique with the blending of agave sources, which you can pick out.. Would purchase again40.0 USD per Bottle

Neat. Lovely mahogany color. Aroma of rich molasses, oak, vanilla, and dried fruits with hints of baking spice. Taste is sweet, rich, lots of oak and vanilla, with molasses, fruit (dried along with banana) and spices. Finish is long with oak tannins and vanilla. Solid taste and great value. Bourbon lovers would enjoy this. It would also be great in a rum cake30.0 USD per Bottle

Neat. Clear, golden straw color with very long legs. Aroma is tropical fruits, molasses, some dusty oak and vanilla, whisper of funk. Taste is true to nose with sweet molasses, tropical fruit, light baking spices, funk, oak, and vanilla. Finish is moderately long with molasses and funk. Overall, this rum compares with more expensive bottles. Not the best sipper, but doable.. Great Mixer, especially for the $22 for a handle, so a little bonus for value. Shelf Staple for my tiki bar22.0 USD per Bottle

Neat. Perfectly clear with very long legs. Aroma is pleasant with fruit, leather, a hint of funk. Taste is sweet with a little ethanol heat, fruity, leather, minerals/earth, hint of evergreen. Finish is sweet with that hint of leather. Overall very tasty and easy to drink, yet interesting. Great entry into Sotols. Very good value for what I paid at a warehouse club. I'll pick up another bottle if available26.0 USD per Bottle
